Product Description
The Pavina double old fashioned glass is the winner of the European iF Design Award. The Pavina double wall glasses can be use the whole year round. You can use them for your cold drinks in summer and hot drinks in winter. They are made of a very strong but yet light weight glass (borosilicate glass). They can safely go in the dishwasher and microwave. No coaster needed.Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Some people may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to understand the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is dishwasher safe and will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 100 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. Simply treat it as you would any glass product and it will stand up to every day use. Our insulated, double
Amazon.com Review
With futuristic looks and high-tech construction, Bodum's Pavina drinkware makes an exciting departure from traditional glassmaking. The walls of each vessel are crafted from two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Softening the look, Pavina's shapes feature smooth, rounded silhouettes. The inner wall also curves slightly away from the outer wall for a touch of understated elegance.

This set of two double old fashioned/tumbler glasses serves anything from minty mojitos to hot cocoa. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the pair is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and thermal. The two-layer construction also resists heat and prevents condensation, so no matter what temperature the beverage is, the glasses remain comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this 9-ounce, scratch-resistant set also goes into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Pavina with the Assam and Canteen lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. --Kara Karll

Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

Summary: Double-wall thermo tumbler 2010-03-13
Comment: Item arrived quickly; they do exactly what they say they will do. I like to drink cold drinks from them as they do not sweat and your hands do not get as cold as with a normal glass.

They appear to be very fragile; as to date none broken or chipped even. I still am very careful to place ice gingerly into the tumblers.

Summary: Beautiful and functional 2010-03-11
Comment: These glasses are great, they keep coffee hot and (we have the larger pilsner glasses as well) beer cold. Love these little ones. They're great for coffee and wine. Liquids also look pretty dang cool in them, too.

Summary: Unique glasses 2010-03-06
Comment: When I odered them I assumed they were double-walled plastic ware. They are real glass. I got them because I needed glasses that didn't sweat. The discription said they don't but they do. BUT not as bad as regular glasses. They do keep drinks cooler longer and that is a plus. So all in all I do like them and they are used daily and I probably would buy them again.

Summary: They just work 2010-03-04
Comment: First, the most important thing: these just work. If you are used to a ceramic mug that has to be preheated, or turns your coffee cold, you will be stunned by the difference. Though they certainly lack the visceral comfort of a mug, being really light, your coffee will be hot, and stay hot. Period.

The problem these always had is that they used to break rather easily. What they did in an attempt to solve this is put what is basically a valve in the outer wall to allow the air pressure inside the glass to equalize, which seems to have done the trick. They are listed as dishwasher safe, and though I have not had the guts to do that, I use mine daily, stirring vigorously with a metal spoon, etc., and so far no problems.
