Amazon.com Review
Simple and versatile enough to bring joy to astronauts in a space station, this breadmaker creates nearly any imaginable type of bread--including batter breads like banana-nut--as well as cakes, pizza and bagel doughs, and jams. Buttons and an LED display make 56 combinations available: choices include a 1-1/2- or 2-pound loaf; regular or rapid-rise settings; light, medium, or dark crust; and thin, crisp French-style or regular crust. Making bread begins by placing basic ingredients into the bread pan and letting the machine mix, knead, rise, punch down, rise again, and bake, or by using frozen bread dough and the bake-only cycle. Furthermore, ingredients can be placed in the machine up to 15 hours from the time a fresh, warm loaf is wanted; simply program the machine to begin work so the loaf emerges at the desired time. Bread for supper can be started in the morning or breakfast cinnamon rolls the day before. An instruction video and booklet accompany the machine, along with recipes for breads, jams, doughs, and cakes. The bread pan and kneading paddle are nonstick and clean in warm, soapy water. The machine carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Summary: This is an awesome breadmaker 2007-11-08
Comment: I bought this for my wife about 8 years ago and we have used it regularly since. Just this week we encountered our first problem...the bread pan has cracked (though I am not so sure my 9 year old didn't have something to do with that...). I plan on replacing the baking pan and still using this quality machine. We are very pleased with it.

Summary: We love our machine! 2006-07-09
Comment: This is my first review of anything on amazon. I am writing because we have used this machine almost daily for about 3 years with great results almost all of the time. Sometimes we use it twice a day. Our kids love the warm bread for breakfast when we set it to bake overnight or they eat it for snacks or sandwiches. We quit buying bread at the store because no one will eat it and plus we can use organic ingredients when we make it ourselves. The machine has occasionally failed due to human error, like if one does not push the pan down hard enough to completely engage with the motor. It WILL make a loud noise, which alerts you to unplug the machine and correct the problem. (Its one defect is that the "off/stop" button does not work, so I just unplug it and it resets.) If we use bulk yeast, the bread does not rise well. If we use 2tsp of Fleischman's yeast (regular or bread machine type) it rises well, sometimes too well. The only reason I have returned to the bread machine section of amazon is that finally our paddle has worn down and will not spin properly any more. So these are my 2 cents. I am delighted to read on other reviews where to get a replacement so we can keep enjoying this terrific kitchen tool.

Summary: Better site for replacement parts 2005-06-03
Comment: maxim-toastmaster does not seem to exist anymore, try http://www.goodmans.net. Paddles for any Breadman machine are about $10.

Summary: Replacement parts for Breadman products 2005-02-28
Comment: It's easy to get replacement parts for the Breadman but not so easy to find it on the web. I spent two hours searching and that's why I'm posting this! They are a division of Toastmaster. The web site is www.maxim-toastmaster.com and the customer service department is 800-233-9054. They are VERY friendly and fast. I just replaced my kneading paddle for $8 and they don't charge you for shipping.

Summary: disappointed w/breadman plus 2005-02-08
Comment: my husband used their recipe for whole wheat bread-2 pkgs of yeast and added gluten flour(which adds a great pop to the rise). This was the 2nd time we added the gluten-using their recipe for 2lb whole wheat-was a big door stop-both times. I love my kitchen aid mixer-heavy duty-could handle heavy dough. so far we are so sad and disappointed.
