Product Description
This smart toaster features an internal electronic chip that automatically lowers bread with a single touch and regulates toasting time. The brushed die-cast metal toaster is designed with dual control panels so each side operates independently of the other. Push-button controls include toast, a bit more, bagel, defrost, and lift-and-look functions. Press the "a bit more" button and bread automatically lowers for additional toasting time. The smart lift-and-look function automatically raises the bread carriage during toasting to allow viewing and/or canceling mid-cycle. Blue LED panels illuminate, acting as a progress indicator by counting down the time remaining in the toasting cycle. A beep indicates when toast is done. Choose 4-slice or 2-slice smart toaster.

Summary: Finally the best 2008-12-02
Comment: I had two false starts: A T-Fal delux had slots too short for my favorite bakery bread, a Haier did a very disappointing job on English muffins (using the bagel setting) and did not toast both sides of bread the same. The price of this Breville is a bit hard to take, however it performs beautifully and is built like the sturdy toasters I remember as a kid while having very modern features. It has a "frozen" choice that actually compensates for your bread if it is frozen, as well as a 2 other features that make this a really good choice - the "just a bit more" button drops the toast for just what it says and works quite well, second, the "lift and look" button pauses your cycle while it raises your bread/bagel to check it. Handy if you are working with a brand/density of bread that's new to you. But the real selling point is that it actually toast both sides evenly - the outsides of the bread are nicely golden while the inside is still tender. That seems such a simple thing, but it's amazing how difficult that is to find.

Summary: A Versitile Toaster from Down Under 2008-11-23
Comment: We've had this toaster for about two months now and are very happy with it. It's sturdy construction and good looks are a plus, aside from the fact that it makes great toast. The bagel and defrost features work well and our guests get a kick out of the "a bit more" button, which comes in handy at times. The plug is a unique design as well, makes it easy to plug and unplug when necessary. After seeing this toaster in action, we haven't thought twice about the price.

Summary: Shipping Costs 2008-11-16
Comment: The toaster is super, however, if I had purchased it directly from Breville, I would have had no S&H costs - $12.50. Jack

Summary: Great toaster 2008-10-07
Comment: This is a great toaster. I've been researching toasters for almost a year and had been spoiled by my 20 year old, self-lowering Sunbeam toaster. I tried the Braun 600 several months ago, but it performed poorly and was immediately returned. This Breville 2 slice Smart Die-Cast Toaster is wonderful. It's features are actually quite simple and not over-the-top with useless functions no one would ever use. It's a real winner.

Summary: The best toaster I've ever used. 2008-10-05
Comment: Breville comes thru again with a top quality toaster. In fact it's the best I've ever seen, or used. When you pick it up and find out how much it weighs, you know you're dealing with a toaster on a different level than you've ever dealt with before. Its all electronic contols get you the toast, bagels, etc. just the way you want. Toasters don't get any better than this one; in fact don't even come close.
