Summary: Sorry George! 2005-09-07
Comment: After my GF grill stopped getting hot, I contemplated buying the Next Grilleration model, but after reading all the reviews, it didn't seem like such a good buy. I have a Breville Juicer that I really like and searched to see if they also made indoor grills. I was delighted to find that they did!
It really gets hotter than most of the other popular grills and is very well constructed. It's heavy and doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. I like the adjustable hinge (the end to squished grilled cheese sandwiches), the adjustable feet (no more runaway sausage links), and the temperature control (sandwiches and steaks were not meant to be cooked at the same temp).
The grill heats up quickly and really puts a good sear on steak [steak must be wiped dry if using marinade]. It would be nice if the grill plates were removable, but it really isn't a hassle to clean. I use the plastic scraper that comes with it right after I take the food off, let the grill cool down a bit and wipe it down with a sponge.
The grill looks good enough to be stored on the counter if you have the space, if not it can be stored in an upright position which is really nice if space is limited. Just lock it and set it somewhere out of the way. I keep mine stored on a pantry shelf in the upright position.

Summary: BIG, Tough, Solid, Fun To Use. Pure Breville.... 2005-09-05
Comment: To me, this grill is commercial quality. It's incredibly heavy (and I emphasize heavy!), larger and exponentially more well-constructed than most brands that I'm familiar with.
The unit heats up very quickly. It's higher temp than many other brands and leaves very gorgeous, wide deep brown marks in my sandwiches and hubby's steaks. This grill is tight, with extra thick interior and exterior finishes, which makes it a breeze to clean. I've been a kitchen gadget freak for years and am finding out, purchase after purchase, that all Breville small appliances are very serious, stout machines that I probably won't ever need to replace again. This grill is the best Breville purchase yet.

Summary: Best indoor grill I've ever owned! 2005-06-01
Comment: This grill is superior to the George Foreman's that I have had in the past. All around quality construction with some neat features.
1) Adjustable top plate with hinge offset and not at the back of the grill. This allows you to stop the plate at different heights. Perfect for toasting sandwiches without squishing out contents or melting cheese on hamburgers without having the cheese affix to top of the grill.
2) Adjustable temperature. Toasts sandwiches perfectly. Grills meat perfectly.
3) Cord wrap. No more cords running around your countertop.
4) Can store upright.

Summary: Great grill -- cleanup takes time 2005-03-01
Comment: This grill heats up quickly, and sears the meat beautifully. It has adjustable height and temperature controls, which makes it very versatile for all types of veggies, sandwiches and meats. My only complaint is that the grill plates aren't removable for easier cleaning. It took less than two minutes to cook the steaks to perfection; however, it took 10 minutes plus to thoroughly clean the grease from between the depressions on the lower grill plate. The top plate was much easier to clean because the depressions are very shallow. So, if you don't mind the cleanup, this is a great indoor grill.

Summary: Better than most of the others 2005-02-01
Comment: The Breville is very well built. It has an adjustable hinge and temp control. I have a few of the other well known contact grills- but this one actually gets hot enough to grill (not steam). It is very fast and produces get grill marks. You won't be disappointed
