Product Description
If you are drawn to the beauty of stainless steel, yet are reluctant to sacrifice the cooking efficiency of aluminum, you can now have the very best of both worlds. A mirror polish stainless steel exterior, a heavy gauge conductive aluminum filling, and a satin finish stainless steel interior form a 3-ply disc. The disk is then formed into a pan shape, with walls and bottom of equal thickness, which allows heat to be conducted evenly. A glass lid allows you to monitor food and its domed design returns condensed moisture to foods. A stay cool handle features an ergonomic design and secure attachment. This shallow pan is good for warming leftovers, making reduction sauces and for cooking grains like rice and bulgur. Amazon.com Review
This 2-1/2-quart saucepan combines an elegant design in gleaming stainless-steel with the excellent performance that Calphalon cookware is known for. This saucepan is perfect for tomato sauces as it has a wider base for first sautéing garlic and a high enough shape for boiling tomatoes. It can also boil onions, stock, and vinegar for a savory clafouti or cook up a creamy chicken stew for four people. The pan is crafted of beautiful 18/10 stainless steel inside and out with a brushed finish on the interior to help maintain the pan's luster. A heavy-gauge aluminum core runs through the saucepan's center to provide more precise heat control. The pan has a flared rim, making it easier to pour liquids without spilling, and a domed, tempered glass lid that fits tightly on the rim. This cookware has Calphalon's patented stainless-steel Cool-V handles that stay cool to the touch on the stovetop and are ergonomically designed for a comfortable hold. All Tri-Ply Stainless cookware is dishwasher-safe, oven- and broiler-safe up to 450 degrees F, and is covered by a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Summary: Excellent Saucepan 2008-05-31
Comment: The Calphalon Triply 2-1/2 qt. Saucepan is an excellent addition to my cookware. It heats almost instantly; you can tell when it's ready by touching the rim of the pan. It heats evenly on my electric range. It will keep food warm on a low setting without any burning or hot spots. Clean-up is so easy in the sink that I don't bother to put it in the dishwasher. Great value!

Summary: This is a great value for the money 2008-03-03
Comment: This is a very good kitchen item and we use every single day to cook vegetables, lentils (instead of using pressure cookers which spoil the lentil taste) and good for health. We already have 3 items from this series and will be adding more to make our kitchen stainless steel kitchen.

Summary: The perfect little saucepan! 2008-03-02
Comment: I searched a long time for the perfect little saucepan -- and after using this for nearly a year now, I am convinced I found it. Walls thick enough for even heat distribution, but not too heavy in weight. Glass lid, graceful shape, well balanced, dishwasher safe. All in all, a delight to use.

Summary: Great pan at a great price! 2008-02-20
Comment: For health reasons I am replacing my nonstick and aluminum pans with stainless and/or cast iron. I did a lot of research before I bought and was looking for a flat bottom stainless 2-qt saucepan with a full aluminum core. There are a lot of pans out there that meet that criteria, most of them pretty expensive. I was a little unsure about the size of this pan because it is not an exact replacement for the standard 2-qt saucepan but I bought it anyway because of the great price and reviews. I am thrilled to say it is even nicer than I expected and much more useful than the standard 2-qt style. The size is just right for a lot of everyday cooking and can work as a saute pan as well. The glass lid lets you see exactly when rice is done, whether the soup is simmering too much or too little or when the greens are wilted just right. The handle is well designed, not too long, and stays cool. The pan weighs enough to feel substantial but is still easy to maneuver with one hand. It sits well on my ceramic top stove and heats up quickly and evenly. It handles well, cleans easily and looks great. This is my pan of choice for most everyday cooking and it will get a lot of use. A really nice pan at full price, and a fantastic bargain at the sale price.

Summary: I would buy this again 2007-11-25
Comment: The pan is solid as well as beautiful to look at.
Depending on what you cook in it,it's sometimes not that easy to wash. I'm trying to steer away from Teflon.
Although not quite the quality as All Clad, it's close. And a much better bargain.
For those of you who have to have matching sets of pans I would recommend buying Calaphon Professional or Non-Stick instead.
I prefer the right pan for the job, and I don't think stainless steel or Teflon are good for frying. So I use cast iron for frying, Calaphon Professional for those foods which will stick, and the Calaphon stainless steel soup pot and saucepans for most everything else.
