Amazon.com Review
This Cuisinart coffeemaker is ideal for the coffee drinker who wants the flavor of café coffee at home. It all starts with the specialized Coffee Bar Flavor system, which allows you to set the amount of cups being brewed and then automatically regulates the right amount of water through the grounds. Just like that--a better cup of java. The rest of the machine is also topnotch and designed to provide better coffee in a user-friendly format. The features include a sturdy 12-cup carafe (that has a specialized lid to keep oxygen out during brewing, thereby preserving the flavor), a pause feature (which makes it possible to remove the carafe midbrew to pour a cup), a water window that shows how much water is needed for different amounts of coffee, and an easy-to-read instruction manual to get everything started. This coffeemaker measures 13-1/4 by 9-3/4 by 8 inches (height by width by depth) and uses no. 4 paper or permanent filters (sold separately). --A.J. Rathbun Editor's note: This is a reconditioned small appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the appliance back to like-new condition. Some appliances may contain cosmetic blemishes. Includes a 90-day factory warranty.

Summary: Good idea that didn't last 2003-01-03
Comment: When I first purchased the coffee maker, I was pleased with it's taste and it's speed. The water diluter did as it advertised and made for aromatic coffee. After awhile though, it seemed to let too much water through and made for diluted coffee. I would recommend this machine if the diluter stayed as advertised.

Summary: Great maker if you're tired of a pour-through or press 2002-07-17
Comment: This is a great product at this price. It has clock that stays accurate even after the power goes off for a short period. It has a timer. It shuts itself off in two hours. It makes 12 cups. It has a water window. It is easy to clean. The cover keeps air out and doesn't allow evaporation. The brew systems actually makes great coffee... it brews slow at 1-4 cups to give the grounds a chance to release the coffee. Then for 5-12 cups the "coffee bar flavor system" brews faster by sending more water past the grounds. This prevents the grounds from being wet too long which causes bitterness.

Summary: Great coffee when it works, but . . . 2002-03-06
Comment: Bought this item here, reconditioned, a couple of months ago. Makes great coffee. About ten days past the 90-day warranty, the filter cone got a little plugged and some water got into the electronics. After that, the pot would turn itself on and off by itself (frequently) - annoying and somewhat dangerous - just about "scorched" the pot a few times. When I realized what was happening I kept the pot unplugged when not in use (so much for using a timer). I quit using the pot entirely when I saw that the plug was shooting sparks to the outlet when I unplugged it.One would think that an electronic appliance using water would have better moisture protection for its internals. Anyway, Cuisinart was very nice about replacing the pot even though it was not quite under warranty - they were pretty quick and it only cost me the return shipping. Strangely, though, they did not send me the same model in return - I received a DCC-1000. I suspect they sent me this model because the moisture problem with the DCC-240FR is not uncommon - the electronics for the DCC-1000 are above the carafe, not in the base. If the DCC-1000 I received is more reliable and makes coffee as well as this model, I guess I'll consider the whole experience a wash.

Summary: Worth the money! 2002-02-24
Comment: I purchased this coffee pot after my mom recommended it to me. I couldn't believe you could get an $... coffee pot for $.... It is a great coffee pot. The pot itself is larger than any other pot I have had. It is really nice to have the 1-4 cup button, it really does make a good cup of coffee when you use the button. I like that it shuts off after two hours and that it is programmable. This coffee pot is well worth the money!
