Amazon.com Review
Creating up to 1-1/2 quarts of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, or frozen drinks at home takes only about 20 minutes with this electric appliance, and salt and ice are not needed. After the machine's chilling chamber has been in the freezer for about eight hours the liquid between its walls is thoroughly frozen. The chamber then goes atop the power base, the unit's paddle goes into the chamber, the transparent top is locked in place, and the machine is turned on. Ingredients go into the chamber through an opening in the top as the paddle turns. The chamber chills the ingredients to whatever consistency is desired--though dense treats are hard to make because the paddle churns in air. Chocolate chips, chopped fruit, nuts, and other special ingredients can be added toward the end. The chamber is nonstick for easy cleanup. Storing it in the freezer ensures a frozen confection is only 20 to 40 minutes away when the mood strikes. The machine measures 10 inches in diameter and 15 inches high and weighs 9-1/2 pounds. It carries a 90-day warranty. A detailed instruction booklet including many recipes is included. --Fred Brack Editor's note: This is a reconditioned small appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, who returns the appliance to like-new condition. Some appliances may contain cosmetic blemishes.

Comment: It works very well and easy cleanup. I've only made vanilla ice cream so far, but it was very delicious. I will definitely experiment with other recipes soon. S

Summary: Only worked for a short time! 2008-08-07
Comment: I bought this new, and it worked great, UNTIL I made the mistake of taking the freezing bowl out of the freezer, to thaw out, and stored it for 1 week. When I refroze it a week later, it never made ice cream again, no matter how cold the freezer was or how long I kept it in there. I suspect that once you freeze it and keep it in the freezer, you MUST keep it in there from then on and NEVER thaw it out. I returned mine, but I will never buy this type of ice cream maker again for fear that it won't work.

Summary: Easy to use, makes crazy delicious icecream 2008-07-30
Comment: Very easy to use and clean up. I've only made icecream so far and it is way better than store bought. Also, the capacity is perfect size to let me try out a lot of different recipies without filling the freezer or having to eat so much icecream that i need to buy bigger pants. I haven't tried sorbets or margaritas in it yet, but will soon. Big advantage over the traditional icecream freezers that require lots of ice and salt.

Summary: Simple machine, great job 2008-07-19
Comment: I'm really happy with my new Cuisinart ice cream maker. How much simpler than so many of the expensive, complicated ice cream machines! I put the bowl in the deep freeze overnight and mixed the ingredients and refrigerated them overnight. I assembled it as instructed and in twenty minutes had a lovely frozen dessert. I was a little surprised that the bowl rotates and the scraper does not. But it works like a charm and cleanup is easy. I also tried putting the bowl in the freezer part of the refrigerator and that worked fine as well. I've been using recipes with low dairy fat content and even these work well. A real winner.

Summary: Great for that homeade icecream taste! 2008-07-12
Comment: Good points
-once you freeze the bowl correctly- the ice cream will have a firm enough texture to eat right away (it's the consistency of soft serve)-
-the recipes they give you make great ice cream and there's lots of variety
-it really only takes 20-30 mins per batch and it's not too messy
-ice cream you make at home always tastes better than what's in the store!
Bad points
-it IS noisy
-you MUST freeze the bowl completely
-once you're done making icecream, the bowl is difficult to clean b/c it freezes the water as you're drying it out (it's supposed to be completely dry when u put it back in the freezer but this is impossible unless u let it sit and defrost- making it longer inbetween times u can make ice cream)
- you cannot put too many or too big of chunks of goodies (cookies candy etc) in the machine. it won't rotate correctly- just add them after
all in all not bad! we've saved money by not buying store ice-cream AND i can make lower in fat versions easily
