Fagor 10-Inch Silicon Gasket
- 10-inch silicon replacement gasket
- Fits only Fagor 8- and 10-quart pressure cookers
- Creates a constant tight seal
- Replace every 12-18 months when elasticity is lost
- Wash before initial use
Product Description
A gasket's primary purpose is to create a constant tight seal. Over time a gasket can dry out and lose its elasticity. If you notice this happening, replace the gasket immediately. A worn out gasket can lead to steam not building up, or worse, escaping from your cooker. Amazon.com Review
A soft, pliable gasket is a necessity for keeping a pressure cooker operating safely. When a gasket becomes worn or dried out, steam may begin to escape and won't build up properly. This ten-inch silicon gasket is designed specifically for Fagor eight- and ten-quart pressure cookers, and is not intended for use with any other brand. The gasket should be washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly before initial use. Suggested replacement is every 12 to 18 months. --Ann Bieri

Summary: pressure cooker gasket 2008-09-01
Comment: My Fagor pressure cooker lid measures 10 inches in diameter. I ordered this gasket, which states it is for 10" diameter lids. However, the gasket itself measures 10 3/4". It is too big for the 10" lid.

Summary: The problem is with the description 2008-06-07
Comment: I think the reason people are being sent the wrong size gasket is related to the problem in the description. I have a 6 quart Spendid and it takes a 10" gasket -- as do all Splendid models, except for the 2 in 1. So, this gasket is not only for 8 and 10 quart single models, but for others, as well. Be sure to check the fagor USA site before you order a gasket, and be sure to get two. Example: My dog had surgery so I needed to pressure cook him some meat so it would be soft. Stupidly, I left the lid next to the cooker on the stove and burned the gasket. I did not have a spare. This is the only time in my life I ever put a lid on the grate of my stove - I know better. So I had to cook the meat for like 6 hours. When this burns, it turns into white powder, by the way.

Summary: always need a spare 2008-01-18
Comment: My 10 quart Fagor pressure cooker is still new.
My past experience with pressure cookers caused
me to order a spare ring/gasket. Very happy
to find a source on Amazon.

Summary: Great replacement gasket 2007-12-20
Comment: This item is a replacement gasket. Per the other reviewer, if you received a 12 in gasket instead of a 10 in, then send the wrong item back. I have ordered three gaskets in the past three years and I have received the correct item. Please note that you should replace your gasket at least once a year to ensure proper seal.
