Amazon.com Review
Suitable for large areas and heavy traffic, the 12-amp Fantom Falcon canister vacuum delivers versatile applications in a user-friendly design. The vacuum's motorized carpet nozzle features a 12-inch cleaning path and automatically adjusts for changes in carpet height. An additional power head is included for vacuuming bare floors. For accommodating delicate rugs and surfaces, the nozzle also comes with variable suction control. Completely bag-free, the Falcon collects dirt and debris in a transparent dust cup that includes a HEPA filter. Pleated for maximum surface area, the HEPA filter traps allergens and irritants as small as 0.3 microns, for cleaner floors and cleaner air. When the cup is full, just unhook it from the canister, release the bottom panel, and empty into a trashcan. An integrated lid keeps this process tidy. The HEPA filter itself can be tapped clean for regular maintenance and should be replaced about every six months for optimum performance. An additional washable post-motor filter should be replaced about every 3 months. Structurally, the Falcon is sturdy, with components that fit together without extra bulk and release without flimsiness. The chrome handle telescopes for variation in use, and the power nozzle has its own power switch. For above-floor cleaning, the vacuum features a tidy hatch full of onboard tools, including a crevice tool, an upholstery attachment, a dusting brush, and a filter-cleaning brush. It also has a headlight, automatic cord retraction, and a motor-protective thermostat that cuts power to prevent overheating. The canister must be stored horizontally, but the hose detaches to make this simpler. --Emily Bedard

Summary: Stay away...VERY far away from this vac! 2006-11-29
Comment: I bought this machine about 18 months ago. At first, it worked great. About the third time I used it, I noticed it wasn't sucking things up nearly as well. I had followed the directions to clean the filter, and emptied the dirt cup after every room. This may be a problem with all bagless vac's, I don't know.
After I'd owned it for about 3 months, the power head began to stop working sporadically. It seemed to have something to do with the position of the hose, and I figured perhaps the cord that powered the head was pulling out of it's outlet on the front of the canister. WRONG. It was actually shorting out inside the hose. How did I find this out? I was holding the hose with one hand to keep the power head working, and I got shocked! I called the company's number (found on the bottom of my machine,) and customer service reluctantly agreed to send a new hose. They really didn't want to since it was right about the 90 day warranty mark. I very nicely pitched a fit and told them that I was NOT in the habit of spending $180 for a vaccuum that stopped working, and delivered electric shock therapy to me. I told them that if they DIDN'T replace the hose, I would be forced to notify the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and they would probably be forced to do a recall. I got my hose...eventually.
After waiting about 3 months (yes, I was without a power head for 3 months, AND I have a long haired dog. It wasn't pretty.) I flipped my vaccuum over and found the phone number for customer service again. I explained the problem to them again, they looked up my records, and said they would send it right out. About a month later, I got it in the mail. The excuse was that it was backordered.
I plugged the new hose in, and problem solved, well, for a while, anyway.
Suction problems continued, and I figured out how to clean the filter with soap and water, allowing it to dry for 3 days before using it again. I haven't been able to find a filter, so this has worked. Suction is ok, but not great, like it was the first few days of ownership.
Now, a year later, (today, actually) it started the power head thing again...it keeps stopping. I know what's coming next, and, as I have no plans to get shocked again, this freaking thing is going in the rubbish, preferably in little pieces, so that no one else will get hurt.
Think I'll go to Walmart and buy a cheap vaccuum. At least when I have to replace it a year or two later, my wallet won't hurt so much! Oh, and I am going to turn them in, especially after reading that other people seem to be having the same problem. I'm just glad that no one else seems to have gotten shocked.

Summary: Great Vac.. But.......... 2005-10-28
Comment: This is an amazing vac! It sucks... By that I mean it finds anything and everything in your house and eats it up. Animal hair and all... Thats the worse in my opinion. Anyways I LOVE this vac for the suction power! It's great. There's a BUT coming now...
BUT.....
I've so far this year returned this vac for 9 others, and today I'll be exchanging it once again. Now this is 10 vac's in one year (less than, birthday gift in March)
Suction is always there, it's the beater bar that goes on every single one of them. The power to the head just quits! Over and over and over again. It's been the same deal with all 10! It makes for very hard time to clean your house aswell.. I shouldn't have to bring it back 10 times before someone realizes that there is something seriously wrong here.
Thanx Coral
Happy yet frustrated

Summary: worst vacuum ever 2004-05-07
Comment: I own the fantom falcon for 6 months and the belt has gone bad on the power head. I placed an order for another belt and the fantom company told me it was on back order and it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get a new one sent to me. "WOW" no vacuum for that long, I have wall to wall carpet with a persain cat. I also don't like the way the hepa filter is on the basket it sits right in the middle of where you collect the dirt and that collects most of the cat hair and dirt> I always had to use a air compressor to blow out the dirt every time I used It. Please anyone looking to buy this vacuum that doesn't have a air compressor and has wall to wall carpet better think again.

Summary: Made cheap and it shows! 2004-01-21
Comment: I bought this vacuum at a local wholesale store today. I brought it home, put it together, and vacuumed for about five minutes until the hose ripped. I'll be returning it this evening. I didn't realize it was made by Euro-Pro, the same people who make the Shark line of products--which I was also disappointed with. The other vacuum didn't have much suction, and wasn't worth the money. Look elsewhere to spend your money, this brand is all Lemon!

Summary: Fantom falls flat 2003-07-07
Comment: This vacuum is just not as powerful as it boasts to be. I always felt it was inferior, but getting a second opinion sealed it. I had my grand piano tuned, and the tuner asked to borrow the vacuum to clean out some dust. When I gave him this fantom to use, he told me "you have a pretty weak vacuum here". It couldn't even efficiently clean dust from a piano. the vacuum is only 6 months old, but I can't take it back, so I'm going to put an ad in the paper to get rid of it. Another thing is I find it difficult to store in a closet, and a pain to drag around. I'll be going back to an upright model, and I'm open to suggestions. :O)
