Amazon.com Review
The Fantom Twister upright vacuum not only cleans carpets, stairs and upholstery--it also cleans itself! A bagless model, the 12-amp vacuum features a 13-inch cleaning path and a motorized brush roll. Though not made for bare floors, the floor nozzle is smartly constructed for edge-to-edge cleaning and has a floating head for automatic carpet height adjustment. Dirt collects in the transparent dust cup, which features a built-in handle and a bottom-release hatch for tidy emptying. The canister also features the twisting mechanism the vacuum is named for--a spiraled insert that you can engage manually to sweep out the collected debris. The Twister comes with a true HEPA filtration system to trap airborne particulates, including dust, dander, and pollen. The filter stores in a front hatch for easy access and requires replacing 2 to 4 times a year. Additional filters inside the cup can be cleaned with an included tool for regular maintenance; the subfilter is washable. Handily equipped for above-floor tasks, the vacuum features automatic hose conversion with a sturdy, flexible hose and onboard tools. Accessories include two extension wands, a crevice tool, and a dusting brush that converts to an upholstery tool. In use, the hose attaches to a low clip on the backside of the machine for a smart, tip-resistant structure. Function switches on the machine are simple and straightforward, and the unit as a whole is highly maneuverable. It comes with a 25-foot power cord, quick-release cord hooks, a bright headlight, and a cord retainer clip. It measures 13 by 13 by 45 inches. --Emily Bedard

Summary: I love it 2007-06-01
Comment: I love the way it picks up the dog and cat fur. Also that it is light weight. It is easy to pick up and move around. In a tiny area that is great. I am very glad I bought this.

Summary: Fantom Twister 2006-03-11
Comment: I am very pleased with this product. It is great for picking up dog hair. I had a Hoover before and we had to replace the roller bar every 4-6 mo. because the dog hair wound around the ends and caused them to melt. The hair does not even catch on the roller bar with Fantom it goes in the canister. It is easy to empty. I clean the filters with a soft brush and dish detergent and it never has a musty smell like vacuums with bags do.

Summary: Not worth the money... 2005-01-25
Comment: I have owned 2 Fantom vacuums- and the one I am currenty using (this model) will be the last! The first one died unexpectedly about 5 months after I purchased it- the company went out of business and so I had NO recourse, no warranty...nada!
Foolishly, I bought another Fantom. I have had this one for about 1 year and since then, the belt has broken 3 times, the hose constantly comes disconnected from the main unit, the plastic holder that keeps the cord wound has broken off AND it mysteriously turns off and back on while I am vacuuming!
When it works, it works very well...unfortunately, it just doesn't work that often! :(

Summary: best for the price 2004-06-04
Comment: When I decided it was time to retire my 35 year old electrolux canister, I knew I didn't need a super expensive vac because my needs would change when I moved from my apartment into a larger house in a few years. SO, I gave myself a 150.00 budget and looked around for a vacuum with the most suction, the ability to not get clogged on the tons of fur my two kitties constantly shed, and one that had attachments to get the fur off the furniture. Well, the Fantom does the job and then some. It effortlessly moves from my berber rugs to my hardwood floors and even to my super thick luxury carpet without adjusting anything. AND the suction - the suction is amazing!! I had vacuumed with my old vacuum two days before buying the fantom and it still picked up enough fur and dirt to make-up a whole new pet!!! Not only that, but on the hardwood floors, the dust bunnies come to you! The attachments are definitly an afterthought and not the best out there, but that's my only drawback so far.

Summary: HORRIBLE...No More Fantoms for ME! 2004-01-02
Comment: I've owned 2 previous Fantoms and was very pleased with their performance and durability. Yes...I did pay more for them. However, this vacuum is living proof that--YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! It is a HORRIBLE vacuum. I spend more time bending over with the hose that releases from the bottom...my back is shot. Their nifty "quick release" canister??? A TOTAL JOKE!! You still have to stick your hand in there to get all the lint, hair, etc. from out of it. Oh, did I mention that after you vacuum an area and think you're done...you only turn around to see some of what you just vacuumed mysteriously ends up behind you! Auto-height adjustment?? Great if you have shag carpeting from the '70s. Anything shorter and you're out of luck. DON'T WASTE YOUR $$$$. I just bought the DYSON ANIMAL from Target/Amazon website. After reading ITS customer reviews--I EAGERLY await it's arrival!!! I'd rather pay $500 and get what I expect!!
