Summary: Deep frying made easy! 2008-04-12
Comment: If I can do it----you can't miss! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Got it? Now follow the directions and let your imagination go. Oil temp is easy to maintain. Farberware been around for past 35 years, at least. Cause that's when I bought my first set. Did'nt Elvis like deep fried bananas? Maybe dip them in egg nog first and then deep fry?

Summary: "Chip Pan" 2007-12-29
Comment: This is quite simply, an old British kitchen standby know universally as a "Chip Pan", variations of which could be seen in most domestic kitchens of all strata of society in post-WW2 UK -I don't know about currently.
They were the local fire-brigades' (and insurance company's) nightmare and the demise of several kitchens I know of personally.
This product works well as such and I was very glad to find it's like available finally in the USA (I carried a copper-bottomed one from an aunt all over the world for years until it finally became unusable).
I use it for chips (French fries) only, with peanut oil the medium of choice.
Be very aware that THE USER is ultimately responsible for the safe use of this product, as it is totally manual and does not claim to be anything else, requiring constant surveillance. NEVER LEAVE IT UNATTENDED WHEN IN USE!
If you follow the blanch-and-brown method as espoused by all responsible and experienced cooks from Ramsey, Keller and Bourdain on down, it will turn out excellent pommes-frites, chips, fritters and anything else you choose to commit to the deep fat method.
I personally prefer it to the commercial electrical set-temperature types of fryers (I have one of these also) for F-Fries especially, as I can regulate the heat to my immediate needs.
But it's not for the microwave "heat and leave" mentality.
Good product for it's intended use.

Summary: Farberware Dual Function Saucepot 2007-11-04
Comment: The contstruction of the pot is the high quality one would expect from Farberware. Having never seen the pot in person, I did not pick up from the picture that there is a cutout on the lid to allow for the handle of the fry basket; it just looked like a shadow. I had no interest in the fryer basket but just wanted a pot of that size. Even though I have many other Farberware pots and pans, there is no other lid in my collection that fits this pot, hence, it is just about useless to me.

Summary: Exactly as Advertised, Great Size, but Mind the Cover! 2007-11-04
Comment: Read the other reviews, and if you want to use this pot for simmering, be sure that you want to deal with finding and buying an alternate properly sized cover. Otherwise, it's exactly what I wanted!

Summary: 'Great for popping Pocorn" 2007-10-29
Comment: This will be the second one of these I have purchased expressly for the purpose of popping popcorn. I think it works great. Just add oil & place it on a high burner, gas or electric. When the oil begins to smoke place enough popcorn in the pan so that it covers the bottom of the pan making sure all of the popcorn is covered by oil. Cover with the pan lid and let pop until all the corn is popped or you hear about three seconds between each pop. Remove from the heat immeditally and pour all of the popped contents into a large bowl. Salt & butter to taste and then sit down in front of that movie on T.V. and enjoy ! "Yum,Yum" it's warm and tastey...
