With lovely fleur-de-lys detail at its handles' rivet points and a thick aluminum base capped in copper for fast, uniform heat distribution, this 2-quart double boiler is gorgeous to behold and splendid to cook with. It comes with a tight-fitting, drop-style lid to retain steam and create a self-basting effect when used as a saucepan. With the double-boiler insert it's ideal for cooking delicate sauces and scrambled eggs or for melting chocolate. Because it's safe to 500 degrees F, the pan can also go into the oven. Hand-polished cast-stainless-steel handles with hanging holes are double-riveted for strength, and the rivets have stainless-steel caps for added durability. Summary: Beautiful pan 2003-06-04
Comment: I purchased this double boiler several months ago and it has become one of my favorite cooking tools. Aside from being beautiful, and a very nice double boiler, it is the perfect size to use just as a saucepan. It has a nice weight - not too heavy, but substantial. The copper bottom cleans up in no time using Barkeepers Friend. The little fleur de lis design on the handle is a charming touch, too. The rivets holding the handle on are more than adequate. All in all I truly love it! I can't find a thing about it that I don't like. I would recommend it if you are in need of a nice sized double boiler.

Comment: I have a Farberware clad stainless 4 quart pan made in Italy. It is a beauty. I was expecting similar quality with the stainless copper clad. It was light weight. The core did not go up the side of the pan. I was dissapointed to say the least.
