Use these bags with any FoodSaver machine to refrigerate, microwave, freeze, or boil. The Tilia system removes air and seals in freshness. It also prevents freezer burn which can be a costly problem.

Compatible with FoodSaver brand and most other brands of vacuum packaging systems, this pack of thirty-two 6-by-9-1/2-inch bags seals perishable foods to preserve their flavor and freshness for up to five times longer than other storage methods. Each of these bags is big enough to store about 1/2-pound of asparagus, a pack of hot dogs, or a pair of beef tenderloin steaks. The bags have channels that make air removal more efficient and a 5-ply construction that offers a better barrier against moisture and oxygen in either the refrigerator or freezer. The bags actually prevent freezer burn, plus they are conveniently safe for boiling or the microwave to make reheating frozen home-cooked meals a cinch. Bags can be washed out by hand or in the dishwasher and reused as long as they have not previously stored raw meats, fish, or greasy foods that can pass along food-borne illnesses. --Cristina Vaamonde

Summary: My Favorite Size 2008-04-28
Comment: I like the bags because you don't have to measure and cut, and only have to seal one side. I don't like to do anything in the kitchen, so anything that saves time and effort is for me. You pay more for bags than rolls, but your time is worth something, too. The pint bag is the one I use most for my husband and me, but I use some quart-size, too. I have two sealers, a standard size which I seldom use, and an old short one which lives on the back of the counter taking up very little space. Having it right there ready to use prompts me to use it much more often than if I had to get it out of the closet. Note: Your sealer may tell you to wait a certain number of seconds between sealing jobs and to only seal x-number of times at a time to prevent overheating. Sealing too many things too fast will result in less secure seals. This is one of the reasons I prefer having to seal only one side of an item, especially as my most common use is to buy big packages of meats and chicken breasts at Costco, seal them all up individually, and put them in the freezer. This is by far the easiest and most convenient and cost-effective way for me to manage meals at home.

used them for freezing corn. Good to use for exact amount you need for a recipe.

Comment: I love to have this size on hand. My husband is on Atkins and I like to put his individual steaks in these bags. Then I can just grab one steak out of the freezer for him.

Comment: These bags are terrific for freezing small portions of food. I use them for single size portions of prepared meals. They are great when you cook a large meal and split it into smaller portions. It's handy to just grab a meal and reheat it for dinner after a busy day. Great time saver and "food saver".
