Compatible with FoodSaver brand and most other brands of vacuum packaging systems, this 6-inch-by-22-foot roll of plastic bagging material creates custom bags for storing smaller perishable foods that may be oddly shaped (such as chicken drumsticks or small wedges of cheese). When used with a sealing appliance, this heavy-duty nylon-reinforced wrap preserves food's flavor and freshness for up to five times longer than other storage methods. This is because the bags have channels that make air removal more efficient and a 5-ply construction that offers a better barrier against moisture and oxygen in either the refrigerator or freezer. The bags actually prevent freezer burn plus they are conveniently safe for boiling or the microwave to make reheating frozen home-cooked meals a cinch. Bags can be washed out by hand or in the dishwasher and reused as long as they have not previously stored raw meats, fish, or greasy foods that can pass along food-borne illnesses. --Cristina Vaamonde

Summary: Nice size for single servings, but great tip from reviewer 2007-06-10
Comment: Minus a star for being overpriced compared with the 8- and 11" rolls, but I still love this size. Thank you, G. Lawrence, for the tip on creating 5.5" bags from a cut from an 11" roll. I followed your method, albeit time-consuming, and created several small bags. Cut single-size servings of baked salmon and chicken to fit. Since these new little bags are much slimmer, my tongs don't fit well so I need to wipe away some food residue before sealing.

Comment: These are the best "all around" sized bags that I found, and I tried all of them. There are only two of us to shrink food for, so I'm not shrinking large quantinties, just enough for two. I use all the bag sizes, but use this one the most. Wish they had this in a 3 pack.
