Frieling blends high functionality and sleek good looks in this lovely little 18/10 stainless-steel sugar bowl. Suitable for loose sugar, sugar cubes, or jam, the bowl features a pleasing tapered design, a gleaming finish on the outside and lid, and a contrasting brushed finish on the interior. It looks good with or without the included miniature ladle, which fits securely into a demure scoop notch in the edge. Safe for the dishwasher, the bowl holds 10 ounces, stands 4 inches high, and measures 3-1/4 inches in diameter at the base. A handsome coordinating creamer is also available. --Emily Bedard

Summary: Not photographed well 2008-07-17
Comment: I ended up sending the sugar bowl back. From the picture, I thought the base would be porcelain and the spoon and top would be stainless steel. Turns out the entire set is stainless steel.
The size of the bowl and the spoon were SO ideal. I hated to return it, but the tell-tale signs of finger smears would have driven me crazy.

Summary: One of my favorite small, shiny objects 2007-02-26
Comment: I really do love this sguar bowl. It's very nice to look at--much better than one of those squat, ceramic bowls that are hand-painted with pictures of frolicking kittens (or whatever). The little spoon has a gently curving handle that allows it to rest just so in a side notch, and it holds about 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, the perfect size for a cup of tea (according to my husband).
