Summary: Newer 2008 Models Much Improved: Great Opener! 2008-06-27
Comment: I was really surprised at all the negative or lukewarm reviews until I looked at the dates: these are mostly from 2002-2003, and the most recent one I saw was 2004. Half a decade later, the Houdini is MUCH improved. Mine is a champ, and opens every bottle flawlessly and quickly. I drink wine EVERY DAY, so it has to work continuously, and it does. While some five-year old reviews talk of wobblies or weak joints, this is no longer true. The 2008 Houdini is solid! It also now comes with it's own case (rubber handle retainer included), so you don't have to worry about storage issues. I'm a hard-core wine aficionado, and this is a superb opener. I can't think of any way they could improve it.

Summary: Love it 2008-05-03
Comment: This thing works very well. It does take up some room in the drawer but if you drink wine it is definitely worth. Made very well

Summary: Buy a corkscrew, get a free rock! 2008-03-12
Comment: OK, the Houdini seems to work pretty well so far. But here's the thing: hidden behind the glued-in-place cardboard sheet on the back of the case is...a rock. Carefully screwed to the plastic. You can't make this stuff up!
I can only assume that the rock is there to make the package feel heavier. (I'm flashing back to Jurassic Park: "Is that heavy? Then it's expensive! Put it down!")
I'm not sure what to think. It's a) hilarious, and b) somewhat deceptive. I'm actually kind of glad someone is doing this in the world. On the other hand, as a person who stood and held the Rabbit and Houdini cases and scrutinized the differences between them, I do feel duped. But maybe the Rabbit has a rock of its own.

Summary: What a breeze 2007-12-21
Comment: I purchased this item for my mother. What a perfect gift. This corkscrew makes opening a bottle of wine a breeze. Very user friendly and so simple. The cork glides out without a problem. The only complaint that I have is it is difficult to store since the handles stick out. Although a simple rubberband seems to handle the problem. This item is worth the money and a is a great gift idea.
