Product Description
Krups 88843 'Caffe Centro Time' combination programmable coffee maker and pump espresso machine features a large 10-cup coffee maker and Krups exclusive 'Deep Brew' technology for rich coffee and espresso beverages. Also the Advanced Thermoblock System makes it possible to get enough pressure to create authentic crema - just like you would expect at your favorite restaurant or coffee house. krups 88843 Amazon.com Review
This espresso/coffeemaker by Krups is one fine combination. On the coffee side it has a 24-hour programmable clock/timer that lets you set the current time and program the timer for "wake-up" coffee. With a 10-cup serving capacity the coffeemaker automatically shuts off after two hours for added safety. And for the impatient coffee lover, there's "stop 'n' serve," which allows you to remove the carafe at any time during the brewing cycle for up to 20 seconds, serve, then replace on warming plate for continued brewing. The removable filter holder swings away for convenient refills and easy cleanup. The double-wall construction keeps heat from escaping during brewing, preserving coffee's aroma and flavor. The espresso/cappuccino side has an advanced system that ensures quick heat-up time and a rotary steam knob that enables you to steam milk or dispense hot water for tea. The "perfect froth" attachment produces great looking, tasty froth. The 37-ounce removable water reservoir produces continuous cups of espresso, so it can please a crowd. --Jane DePaoloEditor's note: This item may arrive with water inside from the manufacturer's pressure test. This is a normal occurrence and doesn't point to a problem with the machine.

Summary: Great 2008-09-03
Comment: I do not know the most about coffee but I think this is a great product. The frother steams milk very hot and very quick. I bought it as a gift for a girl and it definitely got me laid.

Summary: Be aware of carafe replacement! 2008-04-18
Comment: We have owned this machine for about six years and it has worked faithfully for us, but we have had to replace the carafe twice and the cost each time was ridiculous. (type in "Krups 888 carafe" in the Amazon search field and you'll see what I mean). They are very difficult to locate and when you do find one they cost a fortune. And they WILL break eventually. They are made of glass and the ones we have had have cracked over time.
We only make "regular" coffee every Saturday and Sunday, so the machine has not really seen use every single day, but having said that, we have never had any problems with it except for replacing the carafe, like I mentioned earlier.
We thought the espresso capability would be a great feature for us and in the beginning it was a nice "novelty," but over time we considered it just too much hassle and ended up only using the coffee making part. In hindsight, I really think instead of this machine we should have bought a basic, cheaper machine that just makes regular coffee, costing far less with easy to find, cheaper carafe replacements to boot.
We have decided that once the carafe breaks again, we'll scrap this machine and move to a cheaper, basic unit. We can get one with far cheaper and easy to find carafe replacements for about the same price we pay for replacing the carafe for the Krups 888.

Summary: !!! Buyer Beware !!! 2008-03-02
Comment: Having used this Krups product for several years, my sole complaint is its very poor design.
For example, on the espresso side, the two (2) brew head gaskets (hard rubber) become loose which results in the leaking of hot water from the boiler. These gaskets ARE NOT available as replacement parts - the entire boiler assembly must be replaced. An approximately $100 repair for a few dollars parts!
This is the last Krups product we will buy. We strongly recommend against Krups products.

Summary: Perfect Cappuccino every time 2007-01-11
Comment: Just about any machine can make good coffee but not every machine can make perfect espresso or cappuccino. I have been using this machine for about 4 years now and I love it. I read a lot of information on how to pull a perfect shot of espresso and how to perfectly foam the milk. This machine does it all like a pro. I am very happy with it and after 4 years of use it still works. It's worth the money

Summary: I wouldn't recommend purchasing this item 2006-11-01
Comment: This Krups model is strictly mediocre. The expresso feature can not be used concurrently with the brew feature. Nore can the milk steamer be used while the brew feature is on, therefore you must brew coffee, turn off the coffee pot (thereby rebdering the coffee cold), turn on the milk frother or exresso maker, wait for it to warm up to make either expresso or steamed milk.....not a good system at all.
