Summary: Excellent Everyday Glasses 2008-08-15
Comment: I absolutely love these glasses. The blown glass is crystal clear and sparkling and has a nice ringing tone when struck. The stems are sturdy and very comfortable in the hand. The rims are laser-cut. I had considered getting the next size down, but I'm so pleased I got these. The size of the bowl related to the size of the stem is aesthetically pleasing (to me, at least-- your mileage may vary). They arrived in perfect condition (though I know that Amazon would have made it right if they hadn't).
It's called a burgandy glass (not a burgundy glass, for whatever reason), but I use mine mostly for white wine, and occasionally red. I think it would serve well as a water goblet, as well. I love wine, but don't have the cabinet space or the inclination to buy a different glass for every different wine I drink (that'd be a whole lotta glasses!). These are solid, all-around everyday glasses that serve a variety of purposes.
They have to go on the top shelf of my cabinets due to their height (they're slightly taller than my old glasses), but I'm fine with that. In fact, I wouldn't trade these for my old ones if you paid me twice what they cost.
I don't think there's a better wine glass for the money. I would have expected to pay far more than I did.
Cheers!

Summary: Same as the Crate and Barrel Michelangelo Goblets I got for my wedding in 2005 2007-10-01
Comment: So, I registered for my stemware, barware, and dinnerware at Crate and Barrel in 2005 and of all the things I registered for, this was the only one they discontinued. I don't know why, but they did, and after some market research, I found them again at Linens'N'Things this week. It is the same as the 11.5 oz goblets shown here and thank god, because we've broken three of them over the course of two years.
This is not to say that they break easily. All three times they had been dropped onto a tile floor from the counter, which means that they should shatter completely, but usually they just crack in one place. They are the most durable goblets I have ever used and they're great for red and white wines. They're not huge, but are ample enough to give you 8 oz of wine with room to spare. And because they have some heft, they don't feel cheap and flimsy yet they're not too heavy or thick to feel unrefined. I love them. Keep making them-- I have a long marriage ahead of me!

Summary: Luigi Bormioli Michelangelo - Stems 2006-10-06
Comment: DON'T GET THE BROWN, GET CLEAR.
I have the Michelangelo stems in several sizes This is distributed by Libby. As you might expect from such a solid American brand, these glasses are tough. I put them thru the dishwasher. Yes, they do break, but only if you dash them in a Jewish wedding! And then, you'd have to really give it some arm.
Other glasses purchased around the same time: all gone.
The stems are lovely, multipurpose, classy.
Word of caution: when you buy a size, get more than you may need, initailly. It is easy to find the same glass in several sizes and you can't tell the difference until they are side by side!

Summary: Long Lasting - Strong 2004-01-04
Comment: These beautiful glasses were perfect for me and my friends. We gather every Thursday and drink a couple bottles of wine as we chat. Took us three years to finally break three of the four glasses while all of the Crate and Barrel / Pottery Barn glasses broke within the first year. We used these glasses most often since we knew they were as sturdy as we are.
