Summary: Another blender. 2008-07-03
Comment: After having looked everywhere for a decent affordable blender, I thought maybe I had finally hit pay dirt with this machine. Alas, I was wrong again, it seems that the good old work horse blender of the old days is a thing of the past. This item is not all that bad, except that it is very loud, especially on "High", and it vibrates like a V-8 running on 5 cylinders - you must hold it so it doesn't scoot off the counter( when on "High" ). The lid is quite flimsy and doesn't prevent liquids from oozing out ( hold on baby! ). I guess this is what we must accept as the "norm" in the 21st century, what with Chinese motors and Mexican assembly plants. Not that it is their fault, because, after all, who is engineering the specs?? I would have expected a whole lot more from "Osterizer"

Summary: are you kidding me 2008-07-01
Comment: my three month old OSTER 6684 blunder, leaks. Every time I use it, it smells like burning plastic. The bottom plastic, screw on base, is not designed properly. When the base motor spins, it burns the plastic ring. After three months, the ring is worn down enough that the blender now leaks. Since it is over 30 days since I purchased from Amazon, I have contacted Oster, for a replacement. But, So far, not a word from them. Just another company, using their Name and, good reputation, to sell cheap merchandise.
UPDATE : Due to extremely high volumes of complaints OSTER, has no idea when it maybe able to help me. The days of quality OSTER products, is in the past.

Summary: Reliable product 2008-07-01
Comment: Great blender. I have had no issues. My old black & decker one had a plastic base to the blade and of the jar that cracked from tightening it and there were no options from that vendor to replace that single component. I had to through away the entire blender - not a very green solution.
This blender has an all metal blade enclosure that is rock solid.

Comment: Had blender for about a year. Kids love it for making their smoothies. Does every thing we want it to. I think this one was rated high in CR. Hope it lasts.

Comment: After lengthy comparison shopping, this blender was not only the least expensive, but had the toughness and durability needed to make smoothies with tons of ice. More expensive models had plastic blade components, this one is steel and really does the job nicely. I've owned professional grade blenders that cost a fortune and did not work as well.
