Product Description

Heats popcorn using hot air for dry, healthy and delicious popcorn / As Seen On TV
Amazon.com Review

Plug in Presto's PopLite and the party begins. In less than 2-1/2 minutes you'll have up to 18 cups--two large bowlfuls--of fluffy popcorn with virtually no unpopped kernels. And because the machine uses hot air instead of oil, the resulting snack is healthier and lower in calories. That's not to say you can't add butter; in fact, the 1/2-cup measuring cup on top of the popper doubles as a butter melter. Simply put in the desired amount of margarine or butter (room temperature is best), and it melts from the heat produced during the popping process. The clear plastic cover and cup, which must stay on during popping so the popped corn doesn't fly all over the room, easily remove for hand cleaning with warm, soapy water. No other clean-up is required. While a few unpopped kernels spring out the chute as the machine begins to heats up, the chute does a good job of directing the popped corn into a bowl. The popper measures 14 by 9 by 6-1/2 inches, and is identical to Presto's Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Corn Popper except for color and logo. Presto covers the PopLite with a two-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

Summary: great! 2008-07-25
Comment: i bought this for my boyfriend who loves pop corn.
it works absolutly great!
very easy to use, took us all about 3min to figure it out and was popping pop corn right out of the box!
Tho it would be nice if it had a on/off switch.
right now its just plug it in to start and unplug when you are done.

Summary: Great popcorn! 2008-07-18
Comment: We love our Presto popcorn maker and use it EVERY night. The key for us to make good popcorn is the type of kernel we use.

Many have commented on it's faults 1) no on/off switch 2) plastic top gets very hot 3) lighter small gourmet kernels fly out unless you tip the popcorn maker back until kernels start popping.

We first tried using it with the common Orville Redenbocker kernels carried in most grocery stores. And we almost stopped there. It made the chewiest, stick to your teeth, awful popcorn. This seems to be a type of kernel that needs to be popped with oil.

To make the best popcorn, we ordered samples of gourmet popcorns online (Riehles and Wisconsin Gold) and picked the kinds we liked best when air-popped. Many of the small kernels are very good. Then to season, I toss the batch with 1 Tbsp melted butter and salt.

Summary: Great way to enjoy popcorn. Healthy and fun. 2008-07-11
Comment: I am so glad I purchased this. After hearing all of the news about microwave popcorn, I decided to try some hot air corn. This popper works great! It does occasionally throw out a half dozen kernels before popping begins, but I just quickly toss them back in the mix (if they're not too hot yet). It takes about 30 secs or so to get warmed up, but then popping begins and you have a bowl full of corn in about 1 minute. Still as fast as a microwave, and BETTER for you.

Summary: Very happy with this corn popper 2008-06-19
Comment: My son has been asking for a hot air corn popper for at least a year now, so I finally bought this for him and was quite pleased with the flavor quality of fresh hot air popcorn vs. microwave popcorn. I also like the ability to control the salt, butter, and other seasonings so easily. A neighbor girl came over and asked for cinnamon sugar popcorn which was easy to whip up, and had I not had this popper there's not a chance in the world I would have had microwave cinnamon sugar popcorn on hand.

The other benefit is that hot air popped corn is healthier than microwave popcorn, and costs significantly less.

We did end up with a few unpopped kernals, but that's to be expected. The plastic butter melter didn't wash up too well in the dishwasher, so that had to be washed by hand. Since purchasing this we've made all kinds of gourmet flavored popcorn with the on hand seasonings and recently tried and liked Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning, Nacho Cheddar, 2.85-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12). Parmesan cheese works well also.
