Founded in 1756, Austria's Riedel Crystal is the world's premier manufacturer of wine glasses and has always catered to the fine wine connoisseur. However, these wine tumblers are part of the company's first attempt at producing a lower priced wine glass for casual entertaining. Like Riedel's prestigious Vinum series of glasses, these tumblers are specifically designed for a particular grape varietal and still maintain their ability to enhance the flavors and aromas of the wines they were intended for. The only difference is that the tumblers are missing their stems, making them slightly less delicate to handle, more modern in appearance, and easier to fit in smaller cabinets, mini bars, picnic baskets, and the dishwasher. The O series of glasses are made of machine-made of non-leaded glass. The shape of the two glasses in this set is specifically recommended to highlight the tannins and balance the fruit in wine varieties such as Syrah and Shiraz. Comment: These are nice glasses - a little big for my hand - I always feel like it could easily slip out. I like the stemless;, but it is very thin glass. We haven't broken any, but we do feel as if they would break easily. We ordered 4 and use them for "every day", but probably will not order more.

Comment: I was deciding on which ones to get, the cab or syrah ones, and decided on these (the syrah/shiraz), so happens they shipped the Cab ones anyways. Seems they mixed them up or Amazon just considers them interchangeable.
The Syrah ones are technically narrower and taller as per the insert.

Comment: I love these glasses.
I think the traditional stemmed wine glass is fine, but I find this far more practical, while being elegant at the same time.
I have the set for Sauvignon Blanc as well, which are very nice.
I'll be buying more.
