This stainless-steel electric fondue from Rival is a fine-tunable, worry-free alternative, with an attractive shape and a 3-quart capacity to boot. Whether you're heating up a blend of Brie and Roquefort or melting down a box of chocolate truffles, it's easy to adjust the heat from warm to 400 degrees F using the detachable temperature dial. Stable and easy to transport, the pot has eight fork notches and comes with eight fondue forks, each tipped in a different color to avoid confusion. The 18/10 stainless steel is strong as well as beautiful, with a gleaming mirror finish. Remove the power cord and temperature gauge and you can immerse the whole pot for cleaning. For extra safety, Rival includes a magnetic breakaway plug that disconnects if the power cord is accidentally pulled or tugged. Summary: Be sure to buy some tape! 2008-05-25
Comment: I think this product is terrible! The "breakaway" magnet feature on the heater is poorly designed. The heating unit kept pulling apart and finally my husband had to tape it together so we could actually use the thing.

Summary: Electric fondue with predictable heat 2008-03-26
Comment: I bought this so I could prepare fondue for my wife for her birthday. It's a great product. The magnetic break-away cord is a necessary nuisance for safety. I just run an extension cord up onto the table. The heat selection dial is predictable. It was easy to set the dial to cook with the hot oil without scalding everything. Some recipes suggest cooking on the stove and transferring to the fondue pot before serving, but with this product you can cook in the fondue pot. I can't imagine what could possibly use the maximum heat setting! Turning the dial down reduced the heat predictably. Cleanup is easy, as the cords are removable and the entire dish and legs are submersible. Plus, the dish is stainless, so just allow it to cool and everything cleans up nicely.

Summary: Must Have - Fondue 2008-03-02
Comment: This should be everyone's first fondue unit. A must for cooking meats and vegetables since you control the temperature. I love that it does not have a non-stick coating inside since fondue forks are metal and would only scratch that coating. It cleans up very easily and stays looking new time after time.

Comment: This fondue is very easy to use except for the electrical connection. It uses a magnet to hold the cord to the pot and it kept falling off. You also need to be careful not to let it get too hot or the cheese (or whatever) can burn to the bottom. It cleaned up well but left a little residue from the cheese burning on to it.

Summary: for a cosy and enjoyable meal with friends and family 2008-02-18
Comment: We are very happy with the fondue. We like to have fondue 'bourguignonne' with all kinds of tender meat. It's very cosy to have this meal with friends and/or family, Everyone 'prepares' the meat the way he likes. You don't have to stand in the kitchen for hours to cook and I've never known someone who didn't like it. The Rival is a very good fondue, we are really happy with it and I recommand it for a cosy and enjoyable meal.
