Yogurt is a great, guilt-free snack for both adults and kids. With this yogurt maker, it's easy to add favorite flavors--including exotic and sweet fruits, rich crunchy nuts, and natural sweeteners--to basic yogurt. Just follow the recipes, supplied by the manufacturer, and a nutritious snack, with very little fat and no preservatives (like most commercial brands), is not too far away. Making yogurt takes from 4 to 10 hours to process, depending on desired tartness of the batch. If you're looking for frozen yogurt, you do have to chill it for 2 hours in the freezer before consumption after it's made. The yogurt can be stored up to one week. --Teresa Simanton

Summary: Makes good yogurt 2008-05-06
Comment: This small appliance makes a good batch of yogurt, but I wish the inner container was not made of plastic. This design could pose the threat of harmful chemicals leaching into the yogurt since the plastic appliance keeps the plastic container heated for a prolonged period of time. I replaced the plastic conatiner with a glass jar which works just fine...I just wish it came with a glass or stainless steel inner container in the first place. The yogurt maker will save you money if you buy lots of organic yogurt!

Summary: Awesome Soy Yogurt 2008-05-05
Comment: I can't get soy yogurt in my part of town so I decided to make my own. Came out perfect! Saves me money because small individual soy yogurts can get expensive. Now I can make my reg yogurts, yogurt cheese and frozen yogurt with ease. Can start the machine up in the morning. Return home from work to fresh yogurt. Vegan a go go.

Summary: Salton Yogurt Maker 2008-05-04
Comment: This yogurt maker is as about goof proof as they come. It's a simple, inexpensive way to make fresh pure yogurt. I'm very satisfied with the performance of the product and ease of use. It will pay for itself in about 10 batches, which for me is about 10 weeks, and I'm halfway there. If the product lasts for a year, you come out way ahead on cost and quality of homemade yogurt. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Summary: Second Time Around 2008-05-03
Comment: To my surprise the Salton YM9 is a delight to use. Having bought a yogurt maker many years ago with six individual glass cups I really hesitated on buying another one. Since I mainly use the yogurt in smoothies or turn it into yogurt cheese to use in recipes, I find the quart size quite convenient and a lot less messy than the small cups.

Summary: Looking forward to some yummy homemade yoghurt! 2008-05-02
Comment: The product arrived very quickly and was in perfect condition. I have yet to use it, but expect it to be all that it is said to be. I've read all the reviews and am sure that I made the right choice. As soon as I get the recommended powdered starter, I expect to enjoy the best yoghurt I've ever tasted outside of Europe and the Middle East! Sky
