Summary: It doesn't make a cold enough martini for my tastes... 2008-07-19
Comment: I'll make a long story short. I like a cold martini that's very well shaken so that there are ice crystals on the top of the drink. This machine is not capable of doing that.
Don't get me wrong, it's a cute thing and seems to be reasonably well made. If you like your martinis cool to somewhat cold, it will probably be a good choice for you. However, I like my martinis very cold and it's not up to the task of making them the way that I like them, even after multiple cycles back-to-back.
I also tried to make a Lemon Drop Martini using a powdered mix. 2 cycles later, it did not shake hard enough to blend the mix properly. Drinks poured from the top of the shaker tasted mostly of water and vodka where the bottom was very sweet due to the largely undissolved mix.
So...It's just fine for those who like cool to somewhat cold martinis, but if you like them very cold like I do, it's probably not a good choice. And if you're going to be using powdered mixes, the shaking may not be strong enough to mix your drink properly.

Summary: Husband's new found love of "martini" 2008-04-27
Comment: I bought this shaker for my husband's birthday. Was not sure what it would be like but since he does enjoy martinis now and again thought it would be a neat gift. It certainly was a hit with him. He said it made a perfect martini. We followed the directions to a tee, and now he enjoys several different kinds of martinis mixed by the shaker. It can also be used for other mixed drinks, without the mess of shaking yourself. Recommend this product to all.

Summary: great toy 2008-03-24
Comment: I love my waring Pro electric martini shaker. A friend of mine received one for her birthday, and I knew then, I had to have one too. It shakes up the best cosmos and martinis. The drinks taste better when electronically shaken. My husband likes his Manhattan's stirred and this machine can also stir. It is a fun item to have and a great conversation piece when entertaining. It also comes with a recipe book for all kinds of shaken drinks.

Summary: Great Machine - Actually works well! - Fun to Watch 2008-02-04
Comment: Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1ZOFM73EGT3TR We followed the simple directions, filled with ice and our martini ingredients. Someone has a sense of humor as when you push the on/off button to turn the machine on the green olive on the martini graphic (just above the switch) lights up. It works well in either shaken or stirred mode.Obviously this was the shaken mode on the video. We found it to be a wonderful and amusing device. Unlike some earlier incarnations and attempts at a automatic cocktail shaker this one actually works well. The ultimate toy for the lazy bartender. While we strongly suggest Gary Regan's Cocktails in the Country to learn proper manual, old fashioned (and fun) bartending, this is a great machine for those who can't or don't want to shake or stir their cocktails themselves.Would suggest the following books to go with it:diffordsguide to Cocktails 7 (Diffords Guide) (Diffords Guide)A marvelous, encyclopedic cocktail book ,and/or How's Your Drink?: Cocktails, Culture, and the Art of Drinking Wellanother great cocktail book with history and stories for each drink (something to read while the machine is running) and/orImbibe!: From Absinthe Cocktail to Whiskey Smash, a Salute in Stories and Drinks to "Professor" Jerry Thomas, Pioneer of the American Bar Featuring the Originawhich is a fascinating biography of the world famous "Professor" Jerry Thomas the bartender and bon vivant who published the first cocktail book with recipes updated from the original.
