Product Description
Zojirushi Fresh Brew Coffee Maker EC-BD15 features a 1.5 liter stainless steel vacuum insulated carafe with excellent keep-warm performance for fresh tastingcoffee. Unlike other coffee makers with a burner that quickly bitters the taste of coffee, the Fresh Brew Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker comes with a stainless steel thermal carafe that keeps the coffee hot for hours without altering the taste. It also features an electric timer clock module to set the coffee to complete brewing by the desired time. Amazon.com Review
Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket. To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served. To clean the brewer unit, use a solution of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the accompanying booklet. The unit is not immersible. The exterior can be wiped with a damp soft rag; do not use abrasives or scouring pads. The filter reservoir is removable; clean with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. The coffee brewer measures 15 by 12 by 9 inches (includes carafe handle when unit is completely assembled), and it uses #3 cone-shaped disposable paper filters. The Fresh Brew comes with a detailed instruction booklet. Zojirushi guarantees its products with a one-year limited warranty. --Garland Withers

Summary: Best coffee maker!!! 2008-09-07
Comment: This is actually the second one I now own - not because the first one was defective in any way, but because the first one is great. The first one, my husband and I received as a wedding present. We have had that one over 2 yrs now, and it is still working great, after constant use. Nothing has yet to break, unlike my many of my previous coffee makers, and it is very easy to clean - the main parts (the decanter, coffee holder basket) pop right out. To clean the whole system, you just make a pot of white vinegar (not really, but you get the point), which is brainless and cheap! No expensive cleaning solutions or anything. And the decanter is virtually indestructible - we have dropped it on virtually every floor in our house.
This new one is now at my office where it also gets a lot of use - multiple pots a day which are drank by both myself and my co-workers.
As other people have commented, the coffee stays hot for hours (it even stayed fairly warm overnight once), and the coffee maker is really easy to use. And you can stop the "making" process mid-drip process, which is also nice, especially at 7am. And the timer is also nice (as long as you remember to set it)... The coffee also comes out with out that burnt flavor and even after it sit in the decanter for hours, it doesn't taste burnt, because it isn't sitting on a heater.

Summary: Two Thumbs Up - Makes Very Good Coffee 2008-09-05
Comment: I'm very pleased with this coffee maker so far. Makes a smooth tasty cup of coffee, and stays very warm in the carafe. It is attractive and seems well made. If it lasts, I will be very happy. Didn't give it five stars because it is still new, and too soon to know if it will maintain current level of performance.

Summary: ok but ..... 2008-09-02
Comment: Purchased this coffee maker in Nov. 07. Worked great for 6 months and then stopped working. Water would not go through the maker. Called customer service who stated that I could return it for repairs at any of there service places (which I did). Now 2 1/1 months later, still no coffee maker. Repair shop wants $15 to ship it back. Zojirushi said they contacted the repair shop and told me I would get it back free of charge. Well still no coffe maker. I believe I will never get it back. Its a good coffee maker, but I'm not willing to shell out another $90 for a pot that will only last 6 months.

Summary: Not perfect, but very good 2008-08-30
Comment: It was finally time to replace our old 10 cup Braun coffeemaker, and after doing a bit of research we went with this model. I wasn't quite prepared to shell out $2-300 for one of the really fancy carafe machines. We're very pleased.
There are some flaws. I'm not a big fan of the design of the lid and drip arm (separate lids for the water reservoir and basket would have been better). The lid of the carafe would be hard for my arthritic grandmother to manage, and feels a little cheap.
But overall, the coffee is really good, and the flaws are just occasionally distracting. I'd definitely recommend this machine to others looking for a good value.

Summary: Not too good 2008-08-18
Comment: I guess I must be a bit of a coffee snob but this coffee makers, richness and fullness when processing the coffee lacks a lot. The temperature of the coffee is a little hotter than Warm.
After reading the reviews I decided on this one but I think I will send it back. I am used to my Barista from Starbucks and this one just doesn't cut the mustard.
I am so glad I didn't sell my Barista I will just deal with it tempramental disposition and enjoy great coffee
