Album Description

This limited edition deluxe version of E=MC2 contains the same CD as the regular version and also comes with special packaging, a foldout poster and a custom iPod skin.

Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC˛. The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC˛ is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah's worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts. The first single from E=MC˛ is "Touch My Body," written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream, and blasting out worldwide on February 12th. The video for "Touch My Body" was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC˛ will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser.. E=MC˛ is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.

The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan's biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

Summary: Mimi tries to follow up a great album like Emancipation. Let's see how this one faired: 2008-11-30
Comment: Just so you know, I received the album 2 days ago. And I've listened to every song at least 2x, my favorites even more.

***

Migrate 8.5/10 Used to annoy me. Should've used some other rapper other than T-Pain.

Touch My Body 8.5/10 Great song but overplayed.

Cruise Control 10/10 A nice rhythm to it. Composition is nice too. Melodic.

I Stay In Love 10/10 What else is there to say besides the fact that it blows Touch My Body out of the water and 95% of the other tracks also.

Side Effects 8/10 Great lyrics, average rhythm.

I'm That Chick 9.5/10 Very dance-able and vibe-ish. Nice Mariah. Nice.

Love Story 9/10 This song really grew on me. At first it was average-ish, but now I love it.

I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time 8/10 Amazing for a modern pop song. The production, strong, rhythm, nice.

Last Kiss 7.5/10 This track is one of the weaker ones. OK rhythm but the melody isn't strong and you probably won't remember this unless you like the unexciting lyrics.

Thanx 4 Nothin' 9.5/10 One thing I've noticed is that a lot of these songs are midtempos that don't separate themselves apart too much. What I'm saying here is that a lot of them like Love Story and Last Kiss sound very similar. The Emancipation wasn't like that.

O.O.C. 6/10 Almost unlisten-able.

For The Record 8/10 Not much to say. It's better than some of the previous tracks.

Bye Bye 10/10 My second favorite track (behind I Stay In Love).

I Wish You Well 7/10 An endearing gospel kiss off to the people that have hurt you. Doesn't come close to comparing to Fly Like A Bird but is better than the boring O.O.C.

119.5 ÷ 14 = 8.5357142

8.5357142 = 8.54

4.27 stars.

end note: I can't believe this album wasn't as bad as I anticipated. When I heard Touch My Body and early versions of Migrate and Bye Bye, I was only super-impressed with Bye Bye. Touch My Body was next up but it wasn't classic material.

Summary: For The Record, this album is worth the purchase! 2008-11-21
Comment: After a few dissapointing albums, Mariah returned with this wonderful album! There are so many good songs on it. While not every song is classic, there are still a few underrated gems to listen to. The leading single "Touch My Body" is a direction that we aren't used to hearing from Mariah. I bought this album twice because it was so good! The second single "Bye Bye" reminds the listener of her earlier hit like "One Sweet Day." One of my favorite songs was "I'll Be Lovin U Long Time" which ended up being a single! Another favorite is "For The Record" and "Last Kiss." This album is full of great vocals and hot beats. This is definately THE album of 2008 allong with Britney Spears's "Circus." This is some of Mariah's best material in years. I hope it sells well because I'd hate to let this great album go un-noticed!

Summary: One of Mariah's best albums ever! 2008-06-11
Comment: This may not be her best album vocally, and I assure you it is not, but as of soul, it's a terrific effort. The pop tracks have lyrics of a great depth, and they hardly ever bore you. My favorite track is Side Effects, a true invitation for women to cry out loud, and I'm sure they will, because like most of the successful tracks here, it invites you to feel something, to experience the vocals and the up/mid/slow tempo beat, and you do without a second thought. I recommend E=MC˛! It's gripping.

Summary: More Hip Hop 2008-06-08
Comment: The best part of this album is the two free gifts that come with the album: a fold out poster and an iPod skin. There are a few songs I like in this album. Touch My Body, I Stay In Love, For the Record, and Bye Bye. But overall, it is just an average album to me since I am not too much into hip hop. It would be much better if Mariah would do more ballad songs like she did in the album Music Box, but I am still a huge MC fan no matter what so don't get me wrong!!!
