Leave it to Rhino Records to come up with the best party music for Halloween rave-ups. In contrast to New Wave Halloween, this set of 10 tunes is aimed squarely at the family listening environment. "Monster Mash," sung by Bobby Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers, is a hoot decades after its origin. And Screamin' Jay Hawkins's "I Put a Spell on You" is aptly eerie, if not a tad funny in this setting--considering that "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" comes after and the Addams Family theme comes before. And lest you think this set of tunes is mired in the depths of Halloween tunes from generations ago, it also has "Ghostbusters"--which reeks of datedness anywhere but here. --Andrew Bartlett

Summary: Good, not Great, Halloween CD 2008-10-14
Comment: This is a good Halloween CD. My favorites are "Monster Mash", "Haunted House", "Ghostbusters", "The Purple People Eater", and "The Adams Family". Four of the remaining songs are somewhat tolerable. They are "The Blob", "I Put a Spell on You", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", and "Martian Hop". "Twilight Zone" is out of place and probably shouldn't have been put on this CD. It's pretty strange and impossible to dance to. Overall, I'm satisfied with it, but not blown away.

Comment: Way FUN and performed by the ORIGINAL artists!! I can listen to this over & over while I clean the house. This is excellent for a Halloween get-together! Best money I spent on a Halloween soundtrack!

Comment: This CD was the hit of the party. Everyone was singing and dancing to these songs. These songs were golden oldies and everyone asked me where I bought it. All these songs are by the original artists. Great party record.

Summary: Best Halloween Music I've Found 2007-10-25
Comment: I've bought quite a few Halloween music CDs for parties. This is by far the best I have found. Most of the other CDs have poor remakes of the classics. This CD has the original recordings. I highly recommend it for any Halloween party. (I just wish there was a Halloween Hits 2 with additional songs!)
