Product Description
In the post-apocalyptic future where television sets are more important than food, TV ratings are the all important currency of the nation. A new technique of preventing viewers from channel surfing proves somewhat detrimental to particularly sedentary couch potatoes. The top studio becomes concerned: dead viewers make for low ratings. Edison Carter, top news reporter, is sent to find out more. After a motorcycle accident, his mind is preserved by wizz-kid Bryce and becomes his wise cracking, computer generated alter-ego: Max Headroom, who manages to boost ratings above those of any live hosts to date. This made for TV movie was later remade (sanitized version) as the first episode of the series.

Comment: The Maximun Headroom here is a malfunctioning
computer character based on Matt Frewer's 'real
life' in this Pilot originally cast for the BBC.
Frewer, a Canadian-American is the only non-brit
in here and the lovely Amanda Pays by herself is
worth a watch by herself! Spawned the short-lived,
but well-made t.v. series which coincided with the
short-lived and tragically bad 'new coke'. But I'd
trade the (Nutri-)poison diet coke for new coke
any day! Bring back 1985 with Cheap Trick's great
LP 'Standing on the Edge'. At least they had a real
Bassist then (Jon Brant)! Look for the 'Tricksters
on Tour for their 35th season this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment: What a groundbreaking series and i love this movie , the series that followed is what the future was going to be, we could only imagine in the 80's. it was just great i can't wait until the powers that be release this movie and the series out on DVD Matt Frewer is just awsome as the wisecracking reporter in the future Edison Carter who breaks the stories with help from his friends at the network including max headroom his cyber buddy. the gadgets i just love some of them and few have already come to pass . Anyway Please Release this Movie And Series On DVD Whoever Owns the Rights Please. If you ever do release it, Release It with all the Max Pepsi /Coke Ads Etc. Parrrrty Onnn Ok !
