Summary: one of the best 2008-11-12
Comment: I love these flying disks (rings). This is one of a half dozen or so Frisbees I own. Each one has its own advantages. This one is my favorite, but it should only be used in wide open areas. I blows away other Frisbees for distance and control; however there are two things I don't like about it.

1) It is a bit fragile. If it takes a nose dive into the pavement, there is a good chance it will break.

2) Have you ever seen the kid in road warrior with the boomerang that takes the guys fingers off when he tries to catch it? Sometimes I think this is going to do the same thing to my fingers.

Again having said that... it's still my favorite.

Summary: Family Favorite - Very Fun! 2008-10-05
Comment: This flying ring has been one of our favorite toys for years. It is similar to a frisbee but much more fun, as you can do things with it that are impossible with a frisbee. For example you can put your arm up and instead of catching it, you can try to put your arm through the hole (like a ring toss with your arm as the stick). You can throw it numerous ways (written on the rim for easy reference) and catch it many ways too, even with your foot. It flies over a great distance because it is lighter than a frisbee. You can throw it so it skims the surface of the ground lightly and comes back up again. My son can throw it forehand but most people we play with throw backhand, like a frisbee.

Every time we play with this, people gather around to watch. We have played it on many beaches (I used to think I should buy a bunch and sell them on the side) and parks. It doesn't take a long time to become adept at throwing and catching it. Our son, who is now seven and draws crowds with his cool maneuvers, started at two. Of course, at two he certainly couldn't do what he can do now, but he still loved it. You don't have to be good at frisbee to play. We have showed many friends how to play and they do well within a few minutes. Later, they ask us where to buy one! That is why I am writing this review. I am buying one for a friend and two for us. I cannot believe that this product has not been reviewed and rated as 5 stars by 50 people or so, like other high quality, fun products on Amazon. Toys R Us sells them too, or at least they used to. We bought our first Aerobie almost 10 years ago at the Alexander Graham Bell museum in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, in a small shop with lots of other cool toys and science products.

Aerobies do not float, so you have to get them before they sink if you play at the beach. Also we have gotten many stuck in trees, but most of them we have been able to rescue. The 13 inch ring is the one we prefer but I imagine this is a matter of preference.

This is a really fun flying ring that will give you lots of exercise and put a smile on your face too.

Summary: Easier for Adults and Kids to Play Together... 2007-07-26
Comment: I was amazed seeing my 7 year old daughter send perfectly level throws with this thing. With a normal frisbee, it'd wobble in the air before landing sideways, nowhere near me. Too much running.

Now if we can just refine her aim...

Summary: Frisbee ain't got $%!#* on this!! 2007-07-14
Comment: The Aerobie Pro 13" is one of the coolest throwing devices around. I'm sure everyone remembers them being popular in the 90's and for some reason they kinda dropped off the map...i have no idea why. I tried to pick one up in Vancouver, BC and had a huge problem finding one so I picked it up off amazon.

So this thing is capable of flying extremely far distances with only the smallest amount of energy put into the throw. Really hard to describe how amazing and superior this thing over a frisbee. Pick one up and you'll see what you're missing!!
