Amazon.com Product Description

ClimbTek's multipurpose ladder lets you customize it to the task. The ClimbTek articulating ladder quickly adjusts from stepladder to 16-foot extension ladder to stairwell ladder to scaffolding, making even difficult maintenance jobs, like changing hard-to-reach bulbs in stairwells, manageable. Folding sections create a sturdy work area on uneven surfaces such as stairs, low walls, or ledges. Strong locking hinges click in place, and a red hinge label tells at a glance whether or not joints are locked. The four-section ladder collapses for easy storage.

Summary: Good ladder.....but.......? 2008-10-07
Comment: I purchased this product years ago....sometime in late '05 or early '06 as I recall. I do NOT recall receiving any customer/product book with the ladder. The sales information on this ladder indicates a "lifetime
guarantee."
I've only used this ladder occasionally, mainly for indoor painting in my multi-story, old house. Used very seldom outdoors...never had a drop of rain or snow falling on it. Always stored indoors. Detailed instructions on ladder followed to a tee.
Last week, while trying to open ladder for some outside work...outside
section would not open. One of the hinges appears to not be working. Be-cause ladder always worked well, and I really liked it...I avoided printing a negative review..and decided to try and contact ClimbTek. A web search produced nothing, despite the product being sold by many retailers. I then phoned Amazon.(rather had AMazon phone me)...which they did almost immediately. Despite some communication problems (an English-speaking foreigner I could barely understand), he (Amazon staffer) tried for find contact number so I could get some information...
(replacement, repair, whatever). Despite apparent efforts by Amazon staffer, and many "holds" taking considerable time.....nothing. He could not dig up any contact information for ClimbTek, and said....he/Amazon could not do anything. So....I guess I have a defective ladder, with no recourse.
If Amazon,or anyone, reading this has contact information for ClimbTek, I'd appreciate it if you could advise me. My e-mail... razar@voyager.net
Thanks!
IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING BUYING THIS PRODUCT....BE CAREFUL OF THE HINGES.
I see others have had the same problem(s).... with varying results. I really liked the product, and it worked great..but, difficult to recommend it now.

Summary: Just right for all our ladder needs. 2007-01-28
Comment: We received this ladder in record time and packaged well. We have a one story home and were able to do all the things around the house and on the roof you'd need a ladder for.
After reading and following the instructions, my husband found the ladder went into the different positions easily. He had to move the ladder into the positions while it was laying down because the ladder is to large to change while it is standing up.
I am looking forward to using it for painting the inside of our home. We decided on this ladder because of the optional platform and the other things available that make projects easier to do.
Finally, three of our old (and awful) ladders are in retirement.

Summary: i've upgraded and am now happier 2006-08-01
Comment: I bought this ladder when first starting my business as a faux finisher/ decorative plasterer.

I've stood on this ladder for many many hours for the past 2 years.
I've upgraded to a Little Giant ladder and am very glad that i did.

PROS:
cost- this ladder is very worth the cost. Its really only comparable to the cost of one A-frame, and one straight ladder. I'm not impressed with the scaffolding layout. the other configurations require rather exact circumstances to make them useful.

size- that it folds up so small was great for me as i was conducting my business from a hatchback. it was the pricipal reason i bought it.

-i do sometimes use the scaffolding config. as a high work table

CONS
-The rungs are more uncomfortable than any ladder i have ever used. I work in anything from comfy sneakers to big workboots. doesnt matter. after a day up and down this ladder my feet hurt.

- the locking mechanism. i dont really trust it and you need to double/ triple check it each time you change positions. it doesnt feel secure to me.

-configuring tha ladder is a bit tricky, and for some changes you need a rather large area.that the joints only swing one way is limiting.

In comparrison to the Little giant.

-Its less than HALF the cost, so thats great.
-Way less comfortable
-way less configuarable/adaptable
-the extras with the little giant rock

My conclusion.

If you are a pro, this is NOT the ladder for you.
If you need an adaptable ladder and are on a budget, this MAY be for you, but i would seriously consider the LG.

Summary: Excellent Ladder and Customer Service 2006-05-22
Comment: I purchased this ladder in November of 2005. It performed exactly as specified. However, it had a problem with one of the hinges (it wouldn't open). I called ClimbTek's customer service and they said to tape it shut and put it on the front porch. The UPS guy picked it up without a call tag and in two weeks I had a brand new ladder delivered. I assume it was just a flaw in that particular ladder. I'll post again if I have anymore problems.

Summary: Just an excellent portable ladder 2006-04-12
Comment: I used to have the Kraus version of this ladder when it was still available in the U.S. I was dumb enough to loan it to someone who left it outside and it was stolen.

I found after doing a lot of research that this is basically the same thing. From what I can tell, there is no difference other than the name and the color of the plastic feet.

I can't tell you how many jobs I have done with this and how many configurations I have used it in. My wife really loved it when she was painting the stair walls and ceiling.
It fit in the trunk or back seat when I had my 1990 Toyota Corolla and hangs nicely in my shed taking up little room.

It is very light weight especially compared to some of the other versital ladders.

Highly recommended and I see the price has come way down since I purchased mine.
