Coast LED Lenser LL7847 David 19 Black DigiTac II Luxeon Tactical LED flashlight, Economical 1x AA cell, P.T.T. Digital Circuit Not longer than a finger, the David 19 DigiTac II Silver LED flashlight makes the old fashioned large size flashlights look obsolete. The new 1.25 Watt Luxeon LED chip pumps no less than 42 lumens through a magnifying, collimated lens with white, digital light over a highly effective range. The DC/DC High Tech transducer uses a nanosecond clock timed LED circuit to provide the ultimate intensity with lengthened run time. This Light Intensity corresponds to about 16 standard LEDs and uses the latest optoelectronic technologies. The diode life span of 50,000 operation hours is in addition practically inexhaustible. Similar to the light strength of a headlight and operates on just ONE, economical and easy to find AA Size Battery. David 19 is the twin brother of David 15. The energy of one AA Mignon cell is pumped with speed of light to the gallium power chip. The result can be seen David 19 provides floodlight like effects into the night, the luminosity of the chip corresponds to the luminous intensity of approximately 16 standard diodes. Summary: Great Light !!!! 2008-05-26
Comment: I bought this light a couple of years ago. I use a flashlight on a daily basis, for work. I keep it on my side except when I am sleeping. (well - I sometimes sleep with it too.) My previous lights have been the mini Maglight (long, long time ago) the Underwater Kinetics 2AAA - a good xenon lamp light, the Pelican Mitylite 2AAA (another good xenon light) and the Coast V2 triplex back when it had a cheesy rubber button and used non-standard batteries (my first LED light), plus a couple of larger format Xenon lights.
My criteria for a light include: common battery (AA or AAA) - LED - bright - and fits in my pouch (with my Gerber multi plier, and my Sabertooth ratchet T-handle screwdriver). This light meets all of the criteria.
It is not the brightest light on the shelf, but when you are working in close quarters (inside electronic enclosures) you do not want one that makes you blind. I have replaced the battery maybe 6 or 7 times in 2 years. That is incredible!! I have dropped it, and it has been submerged, all with no problems. Also - this light has the whitest light of all of the LEDs I have seen. The beam is very smooth, with no hot spots or rings. The lens is very unique - you can completely cover the LED element - and the light still puts out a usable beam.
I have been hoping to get a new one - but this one is showing no signs of wearing out any time soon. For about $30 this is a great light!

Summary: Outstanding Mini Flashlight 2008-05-26
Comment: Just got one of these for $19 at Cost * Co - that's a bargain and it's solidly built and amazingly bright - MUCH MUCH brighter (and whiter light) than my Nite Ize Mini Maglite 3-LED upgrade, and even seems nearly as bright as my 3-watt 4 D-cell LED Maglight. Small enought to fit in a pocket or a purse. The only downside seems to be it's not big enough to beat the daylites out of an attacker like the huge 4-D cell Mag Lite. I'm going to buy a few more of these as gifts for the wife and grown kids.

Hardy, strong beam, fine manufacture and lightweight, a great light in almost all respects.
Two points that need improvement
Coast isn't easy to get a hold of if something goes wrong
It's not waterproof

Summary: I didn't know a flashlight could be this good 2007-12-06
Comment: I was expecting a even, white, long lasting beam. This thing is amazing. Super bright, not as blue as most LED flashlights, and the battery lasts forever. Works great with NiMH. Probably my favorite tool just because it works so well and is super small.

Summary: Best flashlight I have ever used! 2007-05-12
Comment: I am very impressed with how bright the Digitac II LED flashlight shines for such a small flashlight. I like the fact that its compact, so you can easily put in you pocket or glove compartment of your car. I have other flashlights that are quite big, using 2 c batteries that are nowhere as bright as this one, and the LEDs last much longer than the incandesant bulbs. Worth the price. Highly reccomend it.
