Amazon.com Review
What a super compact sizeit looks like a toy and drills like a beast. At just about 3-1/2 pounds, it's like a feather to hoist overhead, but there is absolutely no sacrifice in torque, delivering 350 inch-pounds. We like the speed range choices, from 0 to 400 rpm in low gear and 0 to 1,400 rpm on high. The keyless chuck operates smoothly, and you get a flawlessly secure bit grip every time with the ratcheting mechanism. The grip is comfortable, and the whole tool feels supremely balanced for all-day comfort. It would be perfect for cabinet installers and HVAC ductwork because of its compact size, but we also think it's a great choice for the homeowner, especially those with smaller hands. DeWalt construction is rugged and durable, so you'll have this little worker around for years and years.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Summary: Can't Beat DeWalt Cordless Tools 2008-10-09
Comment: DeWalt sets the standard for construction tools. This 12v has the power of other's 18v, yet it is very light and easy to use for hours. I've been drywalling ceilings and walls each Saturday since I bought this and am very pleased that it is such a workhorse while holding a lengthy charge. Tom V.

Summary: Great buy 2008-09-20
Comment: Needed new 12v batteries for my 10 yr old DeWalt drill. Batteries alone cost approx $50 each. I was able to pick up this new drill with 2 batteries and shipping for $80. Now I have two drills I can use while working on home projects. Perfect. I do like the improvement to the keyless chuck. The new drill has slightly higher RPM. I also like the compact size over my old DeWalt. However, the CW/CCW toggle switch has been cheapened-up. You have to slide it fully one way and it has to sit flush to the body of the drill to engage it. Bad if you have larger fingers. Can't be the price for the week-ender DIY type of person.

Summary: Best Product for the Price 2008-09-06
Comment: The 12 volt drill from Dewalt is the best! WE bought this as a replacement for one just like it. After 3 or 4 years of heavy duty use in the construction industry, the batteries needed replacing, and it was a better value to just buy a new one and have the old one on hand just in case. Love!

Summary: It's not all about the voltage - This is a beast 2008-08-22
Comment: Bought this drill on sale at a large home improvement store for about the Amazon price. Nowadays everybody talks about the "voltage" implying more is always better. Whats next? 48 volts? Come on.
I considered the 18 volt version but let common sense prevail and got the 12 volt unit. My objective was a good, solid, powerful drill for general usage around the house. I wanted something I could manipulate easily and which didn't have a humungous battery getting in the way. I can tell you this 12 volt drill is a beast. I'm a serious woodworker and home repair type of guy and this drill is perfect without the ridiculous size of the higher voltage types. Nice balance in your hand so you'll feel comfortable grabbing it for many jobs.
The charger is fast and the batteries last a long time between charges.
Don't get sucked into the voltage hype. Buy this 12 volt unit without hesitation.

Summary: Nice well balanced drill 2008-08-13
Comment: This is my third purchaase of this drill. The originals are used for a very light comercial application, they are used a lot, but on the lowest torque setting to drive screws.
Honestly, for 'HEAVY DUTY DRILLING' do yourself a favor and buy a corded drill - a B&D 'HOLEGUN' is still my favorite - that said this is still a VERY good heavy duty screwdriver / medium duty drill.
I like them however this one was only bought because we need new batteries and the cost of two batteries is almost the same as the total kit - so I figgured why not get a "free" backup drill!
This item lost a star because in my opinion the batteries have too short a usable lifetime, in spite of there being two included in the kit.
I hope this helps somebody.
