Summary: A good workbench w/caveats 2008-08-12
Comment: I wanted an affordable workbench that could be assembled, (I didn't have time to build one myself.) This one comes with 2 shallow drawers. It's easy to assemble and sturdy. Mostly, it fits together with the help of a rubber mallet.
Cons:
It comes packed well, but not well enough as a corner of the wood top was dinged during shipping.
All the wood needs to be sealed if you are using it in a damp environment.
The pegboard needed bolts that were not included yet indicated in the instructions.
To secure the main work surface you have to get under the tabletop and mark the screwholes with a pencil, pre-drill, and screw with your own screws! Why not just pre-drill and give the customer some screws. Would that kill them?
A company like Ikea would never allow an incomplete product like this out the door. It betrays a certain indifference to the customer.
