Summary: prefer a different brand 2008-11-11
Comment: I found the instructions confusing at the most key part, ie, where to insert the wires, and where the J-switch goes. The screen doesn't light up which is a pain when trying to check temperature or change settings at night. You have to take the cover off to change settings, the cover doesn't flip. The screws were difficult to access with a standard Phillips head, down in narrow channels. You have to toggle between one display to see actual temperature vs set temperature, instead of being able to see both at once. I'm frustrated enough that I'm going to switch to a Lux model which I'd installed before and loved.

Summary: Very difficult to replace the batteries 2008-11-04
Comment: I was very pleased with the ease of installation and operation. After the first winter, the batteries started to go dead. It was next to impossible to pull them out. I had to use a screwdriver to pry them out. (there are small plastic bars that hold them in)
After doing so, the metal contacts became loose, and twice the device lost power while in the 'on' mode. We came home to a house in the mid-80's both times, costing us about 8 times the price of this device in heating bills.
The operations engineer did a great job. The design engineer did not.

Summary: 4 Stars and here is why 2008-10-31
Comment: 4 Stars and here is why:
Easy to install
Easy to program
its about $30 .. what do you want more
Great step up from the old manual thermostat
Works great, but
No back light
No hinges on the cover so you keep snapping it on and off
I got 3 of these and every one was missing one crucial instruction on how to activate the ato 5-2 day cycle (which I got from customer service)

Summary: good but no back lite 2008-03-01
Comment: good and simple, but the fact that it's not back lite kills this for me, I'm returning it. the screen is not that informative, hard to tell which stage is currently running (tho you should know if you programed it). there's a cover the opens which house the rest of the buttons beside for the 2arrows, the cover is not hinged.

Customer Rating:
Summary: Well worth $30. 2008-02-29
Comment: Fairly easy to install - I've never installed a thermostat before so it took me about 30 minutes to figure out the wiring to make the heat, a/c and fan all work properly. Very easy to program. My bill for the first month after installing was 40% less than the same month last year with comparable temperatures. With gas prices rising I thought that was impressive and the $30.00 spent was repaid twice.
