Summary: Excellent product - DIYers, remember to set options correctly 2008-11-11
Comment: This model thermostat is actually a "professional" model, in that it was designed to be installed by an HVAC pro. However, a DIYer can easily install it, as long as you know exactly what type of system you have and remember to set the proper option settings.
I have installed several retail thermostats over the years, and they all worked right out of the box. However, when I installed this one, my heat and cooling were reversed. I looked through the manual and found that you must use the menu system to specify the proper cooling system type (I have a heat pump). Once the setting was correct, it worked perfectly, and is by far the best thermostat that I've had.

Summary: Works perfectly as expected 2008-11-10
Comment: The thermostat works exactly as described. Nothing was omitted that I wish I had known about. Easy to program. Add a few more features and it could control your entire world (well, exaggerating, but there's not much if anything of your heating/cooling system that you cannot control).
Only one wish. The lowest temperature that you can select, below which the aux heat supplements the heat pump, is 40 degrees F. My heat pump is quite efficient down to 30 degrees, so I wish I could select that temp. But the fact that I don't have to add aux heat when the outside temp gets low, or to switch off the heat pump when the temp gets really low is great.

Summary: It's Palin Proof 2008-11-06
Comment: At first, I worry about the installation difficulty based on some of the reviews and it's meant to be installed by a professional. But, it took less than 10 min to install, another 10 min to set up, and it was ready to go. Keep in mind, only thing I know about heater is to replace the filters periodically. Anyways, the touch screen navigation is pure Palin proof. The only thing I regret was to buy cheaper model of this, I didn't know about multi-stage but after a quick googling... I found out that my heater unit does not have multi-stage. So if you live in single level property then most likely you have single stage which means you're wasting extra money on this unit.

Summary: Nice Stat...One major flaw 2008-11-05
Comment: This is a nice looking, easy to use stat, with a lot of cool features, just as the other reviews state. However, I took mine down after a month because it drove me crazy. The problem with it is it tries to be too accurate! The furnace or AC keeps turning on or off too much. There is no way to adjust it to give a +/- 1 or 2 degree variance, so it tries to keep your house at EXACTLY whatever degree you set it at, all that does is wear out your equipment (igniter, compressor) prematurely. Every other t-stat I have ever owned (even cheapo ones) have had a place to set the over-run and under-run, but not this one. I called Honeywell on this and was told that Honeywell has decided that people can feel one degree change in temp. so the feature was removed in this (premium) stat.

Summary: Should have bought this one the first time... 2008-10-31
Comment: I've been very happy with this thermostat since I bought it to replace a horrible Lux programmable thermostat that was rated #1 by a certain consumer products rating publication. This Honeywell was a snap to install compared to the old one, and super easy to setup. The controls are intuitive, the best of any programmable thermostat I've ever used. I've tested it against my standard thermometer, and it's spot on. Should've just followed my instincts and the reviews here on Amazon instead of relying on that magazine.
