Summary: Shipping Problems 2008-11-19
Comment: Bought this unit (10696) to replace an old Lawnboy mower that served me well for 15 years. Found it at Amazon at a great price. After reading past reviews of shipping problems, I hesitated to buy it online, but still took the risk because the nearest lawnboy retailer was quite a drive away. Delivery was fast; however, it was obvious the unit was banged up. There were scratches on the frame. The rear wheels were rubbing against the mower body. I thought it was a manufacturing problem so I brought it to the local service center. Found out that the rear wheel axle was bent, most likely during shipping. The service center fixed the problem for free. The bottle of engine oil and spare fuse were missing from the package. I finally got to use the mower a week after delivery. So far, all the features of the mower work well (quick electric start, self-propel, easy storage, even cut, easy bagging, etc.) Like the Honda engine also. I would recommend this Lawnboy model, but not buying it online.

Summary: What a Shame 2008-09-27
Comment: I received my Lawn Boy today thinking that all I had to do was open the box gas it up and put in the oil and off I go. Wronggggggg!
The blade control handle was not assembled and had no directions on how to do so. After a half hour I finally figured it out.
I thought now here go until I fill the tank with gas then it started leaking from underneath the air filter, thought I would would pass out from the fumes. Now it is sitting outside draining so I can find a dealer to take it to and get repaired.
Do not buy a Lawnboy.

Summary: Sens a Speed is great 2008-08-13
Comment: This is a very good lawn mower. It is sturdy, has the option of mulching, bagging, or throwing the grass. The honda engine is strong and runs a bit smoother than most engines, although it is not as quiet as my parents honda lawn mower. The sens a speed mechanism is the best self propel gadget I have ever used and makes the mowing much easier.
However, as usual, those carelase louts at UPS banged up the box and the mower came with a broken sens a speed control mechanism. I had to call lawn boy, get a new part and fix the control mechanism. So I have to recommend that you do not mail order this item, but instead go to a store and buy one.

Summary: Good mower, had two years few problems - start problems out of box 2008-08-09
Comment: We had a starting problem out of the box but the spark plug was not the correct gap. When we adjusted that, it has run like a dream. Ours has a Honda engine and only now after two years are we experiencing any problems. The engine is surging - but with the heavy grass we mow (St. Augustine) the carb probably needs some cleaning.

Summary: Buyers Beware 2008-07-30
Comment: Buyers Beware
I ordered this item and received it (Signature Required) Filled it with gas and oil as described in the manual! It took 20 min to start it! After cutting for a 1/2 hour the mower quit, it has no compression and will not start at all. I called AOL. to file a compliant, here is their response.

propane or natural gas, or include a magnet--at any of our fulfillment
centers. The risk of accident is simply too great.
If the lawn mower needs to be serviced or replaced, we recommend that
you work with a local authorized dealer or contact the manufacturer
directly:

This is completely unacceptable. The mower is brand new and now I am suppose to make arrangements to get it fixed or replaced when under any other circumstances this would has been swapped out for a new one or I would have received my money back! Now I am stuck with a $500.00 peace of junk. I am really disappointed with AOL and Lawn-Boy!!!
