Adventures on the high seas abound with the Fisher Price Imaginext Adventures Pirate Ship. Designed for children ages three and older, the pirate ship comes complete with its own pirates, treasure, and more -- ready to sail where your child's imagination takes it! Plenty of Imaginative Action The pirates have plenty to do, thanks to special "action points" all over the ship. Your child can simply place a pirate on one of the ship's five special areas, turn the figure, and watch the action! The pirates can lower the ship's sails, drop the anchor, and fire the three hidden cannons. Two pirates can even fight a duel, and the captain can extend the plank for some unlucky soul to walk. Built Tough for Adventurous Journeys Like all Fisher Price toys, the Adventures Pirate Ship is built tough, with larger pieces that are easier and safer for little hands to manipulate. It includes three pirates with interchangeable hats and swords, a treasure map, treasure chest filled with treasure, and a cannon that really works. Additional accessories are sold separately. Your child will have hours of fun entering an imaginary world of adventure. However, pirates should use this ship on an imaginary sea only -- it's not built for use in real water. The pirate ship measures about 19 by 7.5 by 18.5 inches. It does not require any batteries. What's in the Box Pirate ship, 2 pirates with interchangeable hats and swords, and treasure chest with treasure.
The pirate ship can drop an anchor and fire three hidden cannons. View larger. |

Summary: A Pirates dream 2008-11-12
Comment: My 4 year old got this for his birthday. He has not stopped playing with it. It has so many little extras. The sails go up and down, there are lots of little buttons and switches that can make the ship do different things. So far this toy seems to be durable. It is a great toy.

Summary: 6 yr old boy LOVES this! 2008-11-09
Comment: My son got this for his 6th birthday and loves it! The sails go up and down easily. The cannon can shoot 3 darts at once, or one at a time. The captain's costume comes off, so he has two different looks. There are two blue removable flags plus a jolly roger flag that can be placed several places on the pirate ship. The steering wheel and plank move easily, and the anchor can be raised or lowered. The two figures have swords and can have a sword fight on the aft. Hardly any assembly required, no batteries needed. This toy inspires hands on interaction and endless hours of pretend play.

Summary: Despite some minor flaws, a great toy 2008-10-25
Comment: My 4-year old son really enjoys this toy. It wasn't so at first. We thought we were going to return it, but once he started to play with it he got into it quite a bit.
What we like most is that it is NOT motorized at all. The wifey and I have become more sensitized to toys that do things for our kids instead of allowing them to use their imaginations and move the parts themselves. This toy definitely fits the bill in that regard. Overall the chunky figurines fit into his hand well and he enjoys pulling them out and using them with other playsets. The swords can be a little frustrating for him at times, but he gets them when he takes his time. Our set only has the two pirates and not the ghouls from the little commercial. Don't know what happened there but he pulls in other characters we've got around so that's a non-issue.
The nooks and crannies that the ship has are fun though the below-deck compartment where the canon platform can sit is frustrating when you put the canons in place because they're easily set off. Other than that design flaw, the ship and its parts are well made. Nothing has broken -- not even the string that holds the anchor! That's pretty amazing because my son uses it as a grappling hook to pull other toys around with. :)
My 2-year old daughter also enjoys playing with this set and likes the pirate with the pull-off hair. Go figure.

Summary: Great Birthday Present 2008-10-21
Comment: Fisher-Price Imaginext Adventures Pirate Ship
I bought this toy for my Grandson's 3rd birthday. I was a little concerned if it would stand up to his level of play, but it has done wonderful and he's played with it everyday since his birthday. It is his favorite toy.

Summary: Party Saver 2008-10-19
Comment: Bought this ship for my son's 4th birthday. I wasn't sure if he'd like it but he couldn't have been more excited. And he wasn't the only one! My almost 2 year old cousin, my 2 year old nephew and 9 year old daughter all swarmed around the toy and pretty much played together better than they had all afternoon.
