This cuddly bear doesn't just tell a story - he asks questions and weaves engaging songs and activities right into the tale. T.J. also goes beyond teaching basic ABCs and 123s -- he teaches life skills that prepare your child for school. Silly songs and deep belly laughs add to the fun. T.J. comes with one pre-programmed story, and his attached backpack holds up to four story cartridges (additional cartridges sold separately). Simply pop the storybook cartridge into T.J.'s backpack and help your child read along with the included 24-page illustrated storybook. Summary: Very Entertaining 2008-11-11
Comment: My daughter is only 5 months old and she has sat and listened to T.J. tell stories contently for the past 2 months. I can only imagine how much she will love him once she actually knows what he's saying! His stories are very entertaining and promote a positive imagination. I recommend the Hasbro Playskool T.J. Bearytales - Scaredy Bear of the Dark! cartridge to go with it because of the cool flashlight that actually glows!

Summary: begging not to quit making toy 2008-04-07
Comment: The liitle boy(8 years old) we bought TJ for has cerebal palsy. It is one of the only toys that he absolutley loves and can calm him down. We have bought a total of 13 TJ's and we have had 2 replaced and we sent 4 back to playskool that were replaced with a different toy. Thanks so much for having TJ for us to buy.

Summary: This Generation's Teddy Ruxpin 2008-04-05
Comment: I bought the bear when our oldest son was 2.5 years old. Instantly, it was a hit. He was completely mesmerized by the bear! He liked the stories, but unless I sat there with him, he would get lost and toddle away from the bear. Now that our youngest is almost 2, they will both sit in front of it at the kitchen table while I do something fun - like dishes. They sometimes fight over the story props (if the story has one), but we worked that out with the page-by-pag system: If Mega gets it one page, Skeeter gets it the next. The little sound that tells you to turn the page works perfectly for making sure they alternate, since they aren't reading the books themselves just yet.
As for durability - we've never let the boys get a hold of the bear. He did survive a move, and he's still working just fine, but I don't know who packed the box he was in, so it might have been careful packing, and he might just be super durable.
We've had the bear for almost a year and he hasn't lost the spark. The boys still love him. In this house, that carries a lot of weight! Excellent toy!

Summary: Awesome toy! 2008-02-20
Comment: We got this for Christmas for our younger boys 3 1/2 and 18 months. They love it. My 3 1/2 listens to the whole story and loves the games. My 18 month old loves the songs. I don't think the voice is robotic at all, I think it's friendly and very cute!
I love that I can sit back and listen to the story as well! This was one of the best gifts our boys received!

Summary: Cute, but a bit robotic- 2008-02-16
Comment: We got this toy as a christmas present for our 23 month old. Overall this toy is satisfactory however, I find the speech/voice a bit odd and it is very rigid and robotic. When the bear moves there is a somewhat loud buzzing noise like gears grinding..We also purchased all of the books that go along with him and they are interesting and cute. I would probably purchase this again..I just wish that they would work out the movements and make them smoother or at most less noisy. I also wish they would have a different voice or choice of male or female bears..maybe a female voice would be better.
