Summary: If your child is a builder, this is perfect for him/her! 2008-09-29
Comment: Our son was building all sorts of creations with Legos, but this KNex set has allowed him to build to a whole new level. He now can make things rotate, and flip, and transform! This is a great set for a child 5 and up. Our son plays for hours in his room with this and doesn't get bored.

Summary: Great Toy! 2008-09-06
Comment: I bought this toy for when friend's kids come over to my house. This is an amazing toy. I even started playing with it because it looked tempting--and it is fun, even for adults.
It has lots of pieces, with directions for many models, however the directions aren't that important--its much more fun to just use the pieces and create, especially to a kid. That being said, I've found the directions somewhat confusing and hard to follow at times, though that is when the imagination kicks in, which is the point of the toy.
This would be a good to for a family play night or something as it is interesting for all ages.
As was said before, lots of little pieces so if you have an indoor pet or really small children you will need to make sure the toy is kept away from them. There are many pieces that are under 1 inch long.

Summary: K'Nex is great open ended fun 2008-07-25
Comment: Fun, fun, fun. The kids are busy for hours and they are using their imaginations. I just wouldn't be so enthusiastic about the 400 pieces -- some of those pieces are awfully small.

Summary: Many hours of fun 2008-04-03
Comment: I bought this set along with another set. I think it wouldn't be as much fun without more sets together. I bought them for my nephews to play with when they stay with me. My 8 year old nephew really loves them. He would spend all of his time building different contraptions if we let him. He loves to show them off and have us take a picture of him with it. My 11 year old nephew just wants to play video games. With a little encouragement, he did start to build "Cars" and want to take pictures. The hardest part is getting them to take them apart for next time. They always want to save them. There are a lot of different types of pieces and shapes, but often they want more of one type of piece that they used up. I also wouldn't get a set because of what the directions will help them build. My nephews just want to think it up themselves. I would get sets that have the most pieces. There is also a problem with small pieces rolling away and the dog getting a hold of them. I would only get this if you have a good place for them to play with a lot of small pieces that roll easily. They had a lot of fun when they discovered the small motor also.

Summary: we like it 2008-01-24
Comment: Purchased as a gift for an 8-year-old girl and her 6-year-old brother. They got right to work exploring ways to make the pieces fit. The 8-year-old has similar construction toys at school and chose a helicopter from the directions book. She loved the challenge of translating the 2- dimensional picture into a 3 dimensional object. It has provided the children with hours of quiet play time together and is a wonderful opportunity to visualize and interpret what they see. Later they began constructing toys of their own.
