Summary: Not for rough toddlers 2008-11-12
Comment: If you have a teether, these will not survive the toddler's gnawing on them. Also, these will buckle under the weight of a toddler trying to balance on them or balance heavier toys on the boxes. For a good idea of how sturdy these are, they are comparable to heavy duty cardboard moving boxes. If you think you toddler won't be able to destroy these, this is a wonderful excellent toy. On the other hand, if your toddler is as strong as mine is, look for the wooden blocks instead, such as Hi-5 Sorting tower.

Summary: Great, Classic Toy For The Price 2008-11-09
Comment: We have enjoyed these nesting/ stacking blocks for over a year now. They are of similar construction to those I had as a child (and still do.)
Addressing some concerns noted by other reviewers:
Granted they are cardboard, but seeing as their #1 purpose is to stack and then knock down, do you really want a tower of wooden blocks falling on your child's toes?
These are meant for use by children ages 2 and up. If you child is a chewer at that age, then you may have other concerns to address. The majority of age 2 children can play with a toy without gnawing all over it. My daughter started playing with these before age 2, but she also rarely chewed on toys after infancy.
If you are worried about how your child will treat these blocks, then only allow them to play with them while you are in the room. These are great toys to play WITH your child. You can monitor how they are treating them while you play with them together.

Summary: You can see the wheels turn, plus they're so portable---awesome 2008-10-06
Comment: My son received these for his first birthday and they're probably the best toy he's ever received. He just turned two and still loves them. I keep them in the car all the time and he plays with them anytime we're at someone else's house, which is great because they're quiet and he's entertained by them for a long time. It's been fun to watch him do progressively more and more with them as he's gotten older. One thing, though--I do think that if he'd received them any younger, he would have put them in his mouth and ruined them. Twelve months was the right time to receive them. I noticed, however, that Melissa & Doug also make wooden nesting blocks, and that might be another way to go; they wouldn't be quite as light, of course, but I bet they're still a great toy.
They are starting to get a little beat up NOW, and I will buy a second set for my second son, but that's not bad for the amount of use we've gotten from a $10 toy.

Summary: Great Blocks! 2008-08-27
Comment: We have had these blocks for a year at least, and my son has spent much time stacking them and, his favorite, knocking them down. He is 2.5 now. The pictures are wonderful, and each drawing has at least two items beginning with the letter that it illustrates. For example, there is a cow with a cake that has candles on it, an alligator with an apple, a penguin wearing pearls and carrying a purse, etc. I have even enjoyed trying to find everything in a picture that starts with the letter.
I would definitely purchase these blocks again. They all fit into a box with a handle for carrying around.
The only downside is that they are not especially durable, being made of cardboard. The edges are worn and some of the pictures are peeling. But I just tape them down. My son doesn't care!
I do think we will continue to use these blocks to learn the alphabet for a long time to come; as long as they last.

Summary: Not as durable as thy should be... 2008-08-27
Comment: They are cute, but would be nicer if they were made of wood (not paper and cardboard that bends and deteriorates...)
