Product Description
Radica's Play TV Baseball is reincarnated with brand-new features that enhance the realism and versatility of game play. With the added ability to field, players can play defense by pressing the button on the baseball that corresponds to the base it should be thrown to. When pitching, the ball detects the throwing direction and speed, and the pitch type is determined by the pitcher's hand position on the ball. When stepping up to the plate, sluggers can use new buttons on the bat to steal and bunt. Plug the unit into the TV or VCR to"Play ball!" Requires six"AA" batteries, not included Editorial Review
The trend toward interactive video gameswith an emphasis on "active"is a welcome one for parents and kids alike. Play TV Baseball 3 is an updated version of the earlier version of the virtual reality game, with loads of realistic touches that will have baseball fans jumping off the sidelines and into the game. Simply plug the base into your TV or VCR, pick up the wireless bat, and play ball! Play against a friend or choose from one of 12 teams. Rules are the same as regular baseball, whether you're at the plate, on the mound, or in the field: swing away for a home run, lay down a bunt to advance base runners, steal a base, strike out the batter with six different pitches (fastball, curve, screwball, slider, splitter, or change up), or field the ball and choose which base runner to throw outor maybe you'll turn a double play! Entertaining music and commentary included. Games need never be called on account of rain again! For 1 to 4 players. Six AA batteries required (not included). --Emilie Coulter

Summary: For the love of baseball! 2008-04-21
Comment: We got this for our 6 year old son for his birthday, as opposed to the expensive Wii system w/ baseball game that he liked. This one is actually more fun and more interactive than the Wii version, and several of our friends who have that version agree. Kids AND adults love playing this when at our house! Great product!

Summary: Great active game for kids 2008-01-08
Comment: This has been a great gift for my two boys, age 4 and 7. While 4 year old can't pitch he loves to be the batter and enjoys swinging successfully for the fences. Not sure what this is? Think WII, kids have to swing a bat and make a throwing motion with a ball, much like the WII, but no game console needed and easy to hook up to a TV. Great gift that has endured lots of use over more than 1 year.

Summary: Tons of fun 2008-01-07
Comment: My 7 year old son got this for Christmas and the whole family has enjoyed it. It's nice to see a game that the kids can get off the sofa and enjoy. Although, I think the big kids (adults) are enjoying just as much. Great game!!!

Summary: My 5-Year old LOVES it!! 2007-09-10
Comment: My just-turned-5-year old is a baseball fanatic, so after reading the reviews I purchased this game for his birthday. He LOVES it - he prefers this game over the Xbox baseball high-tech graphics games. The interaction is key.
He has difficulty with the timing as it is not the same as "real" baseball or with the higher-technical games, but he has adjusted. He has thrown the bat accidentally a couple of times while hitting, and it still works fine.
My 14-year-old also enjoys this game. Not as much as the 5-year-old, but they have fun playing against each other.
UPDATE 8/17/08: We have now owned this a year, and it just broke/stopped working. My very-soon-to-be 6 year old plays it A LOT, so he will be getting a new one for his birthday.
We also own a Wii and have 2 baseball games (my son is a baseball freak), and he plays those games, as well. All three games (two Wii games and this one) are played about equal in time (only when the weather is bad or it's dark outside, cuz he'll be outside playing baseball if he can).
