Summary: Four year old son loves the Skuut Balance Bike 2008-10-22
Comment: We gave this to our son for his fourth birthday. Within a minute he was whizzing up and down the drive way accumulating more speed and finesse with each pass. Recently he rode it to the neighborhood block party and many parents inquired about it (as it has no pedals) and all of the three and four year old children enjoyed riding it.

Summary: Skuuts are now made with more durable birchwood, just like the Like-a-Bike 2008-10-14
Comment: The Skuut wood quality used to be questionable, but now they are all made of birchwood, which is the same wood that is used for the Like-a-Bike.
I have both a Like-a-Bike and a Skuut, and the new Skuut is of comparable quality for 1/4 the price. My kids ride either one interchangeably.
One advantage to the Skuut is the tire valves. The Like-a-Bike has German valves on it that will only accept ball-type air pump nozzles, not the longer ones that are found on typical household bike pumps and gas station air pumps. I have to take my Like-a-Bike to a local bike shop when I need to put a little air in the tires. I can just pump up the tires at home on the Skuut.

Summary: highly recommended 2008-10-01
Comment: This will teach your child balance as well as get accustomed to speed without having to wean them off training wheels later. Assembly was easy and fast, and we were outside in no time enjoying this bike.

Summary: Great toy! 2008-08-12
Comment: Great bike! My 2-yr-old is still a bit small for it (he is a smaller child), but neither of us can wait for him to grow into it. My 5-yr-old LOVES it...

Summary: Skuut is a durable balance bike at the right price 2008-08-09
Comment: We purchased the Skuut for our 2 1/2 year old son who had mastered his trike and wanted to ride his 5 year old sister's 'big kid bike' with training wheels. He hasn't expressed much interest in the Skuut yet. However, our 5 year old daughter learned to ride a 2-wheeler recently, but had trouble getting started without having someone push her. She rode around our sloping driveway for a week on the Skuut, then to our suprise jumped on her 'big kid bike' and pedaled away on her own. Apparently the balance she learned from the Skuut helped her get the feel for how to balance a 2-wheeler when shoving off on her own.
We are very pleased with the Skuut. While the original Like-a-Bike balance bikes are wonderful, it is hard to justify the $300 price for its purpose. The Skuut is priced right and so far seems to be a durable, quality balance bike.
