Product Description

Assassin's Creed redefines the action genre. Assassin's Creed merges technology, game design, theme, and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change. The setting is 1191 A.D. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history. Next-gen gameplay - The proprietary engine developed from the ground up for Xbox 360 allows organic game design featuring open gameplay, intuitive control scheme, realistic interaction with environment, and a fluid, yet sharp, combat mechanic

Summary: Decent game with wasted potential 2008-11-09
Comment: Assassins Creed has alot of things going for it. The graphics are superb, and the freedom to climb and jump on just about everything makes the game revolutionary. Unfortunately AC doesn't live up to it's full potential.

The biggest flaw with AC are its assassinations. There is little to no strategy involved, its pretty much a straight forward hack and slash kinda game. Even the melee combat, while visually cool, is pretty easy once you learn to counter attack. In fact most of the game is not very challenging at all. I would have much preferred a little more dept to assassinations, AC should have taken some notes from the Hitman series for that.

While the graphics are great, they do come at a price. You need a decent machine to run the game at an acceptable frame rate. I would not recommend trying to play the game on minimum system requirements.

The controls are a little too clunky. I appreciate Ubisoft attempting to break the mold and do something different here, but the controls need to be simplified. A gamepad is recommended tho it's still possible to play with just the mouse and keyboard.

Is Assassins Creed worth playing? Yes. Is it fun? Yes... at least for a little while. There is potential greatness with AC that just was not taken advantage of. I can only hope Ubisoft learns those lessons for its sequel's.

Summary: Mediocre 2008-11-03
Comment: Good graphics and it's amazing how you can climb and go anywhere. A lot of fun at first but gets old pretty fast. Going through the same type quests/missions in each city just gets monotonous and boring.

Comment: Have the latest graphics card?
Have the latest sound card?
Have an X-Box controller?
Have the latest processor?

If you answered yes to all of the above
YOU obviously have the cash to buy this game.
It's nothing to center your life around or form a cult over.
But it is a couple of evenings worth of fun.
Try it out you might like it.
Then again you just might not.
At least that's what I read at stealth video gaming guru website cruelgamer.com
