Intriguing Plot Twists
In previous games, the war between the Allies and Soviets was coming to a close with the Allies nearing victory. In desperation, the Soviets created a time-travel device that they've used to assassinate Albert Einstein before he is able to develop the weapon technology the Allies later use to defeat the Soviets. Upon returning, they notice a new world, and there is a world war taking place between three groups for control of the world.

Play As Three Different Factions for Varied game play
In Red Alert 3, you have the choice to play as the Allies, the Soviets, or the Empire of the Rising Sun. Each faction has its own story-line and distinct units with advantages and disadvantages that you have to master in order to win. The new faction to the series is the Empire of the Rising Sun, derived from Imperial Japan, with an all-new cast of units and characters.

The three factions have many differences, exemplified by their wildly different types of units. The Soviets, for example, have armored attack bears, Allies have the Dolphin ship which can high jump and use a sonic attack, and the Empire of the Rising Sun features such quirky units as a giant transforming mecha and ninjas. As they've done with the series, EA injects humor into the game when possible, keeping a smile on your face as you wage war.

Fight on Land, in the Air, and on Sea
Red Alert 3 has land units, air units, and naval units, all integral parts of the game. Unlike most strategy games that don't bother with naval warfare, Red Alert 3 makes controlling the seas an essential part of the game. Controlling resources in the seas and mounting attacks from all directions are strategies that must be employed to achieve victory.

Cooperative Mode Lets You Team Up with Your Friends
Red Alert 3 has a fully co-operative campaign mode where you and a friend can play together to achieve victory. This means that you have to develop a strategy together, as well as execute it in synch in order to win. If your friends aren't online, you can also choose one of several AI commanders as your teammate.

Play Against Your Friends in Multiplayer
With the different units and play mechanics of each faction, you and your friends will have a great time playing against each other, perfecting different strategies to best suit the units you have and the maps you play on. And thanks to the balanced game play, no one will have an unfair advantage.

For previous fans of Command and Conquer, Red Alert 3 will provide the same light-hearted game play, but with more units, more strategies, and more fun. Newcomers to the game will soon see what all the fuss and laughter is about.

Summary: Another EA game ruined by SecuROM. 2008-11-03
Comment: When will they learn? EA is finally starting to put out some decent or even good games and they go and ruin it. I played the beta and thought it was quite fun, however I will NOT be buying this game. Say what you will about SecuROM being spyware, but there is no denying the install limit. I will not allow EA to tell me how to use my LEAGALLY purchased game.

I wonder what the suits at EA are thinking? Its obvious this has done NOTHING to prevent priacy (in fact it appears to increase it) so why is it still being used? I can download a FREE copy and install it as many times as I want, but if I pay for it I am limited to 5 installs! I know EA only cares about the money, but this still baffels me. What is the point in hurting paying customers when it does NOTHING to deter priracy? Maybe when they loose enough money (between lost sales and paying Sony for SecuROM) they will open their eyes and do away with this. Than I will look forward to playing Red Alert 3.

Summary: Secure Rom FTW 2008-11-03
Comment: Great idea with the co-op, not so much with the Secure Rom. Gotta stick it to the man till he learns. It's only penalizing the legit.

Summary: Broken game 2008-11-03
Comment: Numerous program problems. Are they kidding!!??! I had to install this program 3 times to get it to work. They forgot to print the last digit on my licience code. The first time i installed the game it just plain didn't work, the second time it worked until I installed the updates, then finally it worked the third time I installed it. But the story doesn't end there, sound cut out on me during play and hasn't returned and I keep getting stuck in a cut sequence that I can't get out of. This game isn't even ready for beta testing let alone being released. I feel cheated out of my money and seriously consider boycotting EA games in the future. Very disappointing.

Summary: I am enjoying the game... 2008-11-03
Comment: I am playing Red Alert 3 on a quad core, Vista 64 machine with 4 gig of RAM.

I enjoy the Command and Conquer games and have played the other Red Alerts.

I am playing through the first of three episodes in the game. I am currently playing the "Russian" faction. The actor Tim Curry, from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, is the head of Russia, and pops up from time to time to cheer or jeer.

The leader of Japan is the actor that played "Sulu" in the original Star Trek. Fun to see him from time to time too.

Anyway, in every battle, there is another general on your side that has their own army to command. This army really isn't in your control, although you can influence some things, but it moves around the battlefield attacking your enemies and fighting on its own. This can be very helpful and surprised me by attacking a target I was moving on before I could get to it.

The graphics are good and the weapons are fun. There are a few "secret" weapons that the Russians have that show up with experience. One is a "suction" ray that allows you, once in a while, to "suck" an enemy's vehicle into space, and another that lets you target the enemy with a crashing satellite.

I am having fun playing the game.

I don't like the idea of limited installations, but hey, I like playing games, and there will be a Red Alert 4 out by the time I am done with five installations of 3 anyway.

Summary: Yet another disappointing CnC game 2008-11-03
Comment: I really wanted to like this game. I've played all of the Command and Conquer games, with Generals and Zero Hour being my favorites.
Command and Conquer 3 and CnC3:Kane's Wrath were interesting, but the game play just wasn't as complex. They were obviously geared toward the XBox crowd, not serious strategy gamers.
Red Alert 3 is more of the same, but worse! Just like CnC3 and CNC3:KW you have extremely limited base areas, quick-building but weak units, disappointing specials, and annoyingly brief battles.
Have 10 minutes free? Just enough time to play a skirmish.

Sheer crap. I'm already looking for someone to take this garbage off my hands; unfortunately, I've already complained about it to everyone I know, so they aren't interested.

Looks like it's the end of the line for the series; I'll go back to playing Zero Hour when I'm feeling nostalgic; otherwise, it will be Warhammer or Supreme Commander until something worthwhile comes out.

If you wait until it's in the bargain bin, it MIGHT be worth it.
