Wireless Instruments

New to GHWT is a redesigned, more responsive guitar controller, which features a touch-sensitive slide bar on the neck that allows the player to play through certain song passages without needing to strum. Check out the drum kit featuring three drum pads, two raised cymbals, and a bass kick pedal. The drum controller combines larger and quieter, velocity-sensitive drum heads with soft rubber construction to deliver authentic bounce back and is easy to set up, move, break down and store.

Be the Next Great Songwriter

Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game or share the recordings with the entire Guitar Hero community through GHTunes. GHTunes allows other gamers from around the world to download and play the community's original tracks. Available to PlayStation 3 gamers is Line 6's guitar tone technology, enabling them to use amps, cabs, and effects from the Line 6 POD.

Create the Band

Budding rock stars can live out their rock ‘n’ roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time.

Never Jam Solo Again

Virtual musicians in need of band mates can take their careers online forming worldwide ensembles so no rock star ever has to play a gig solo. Plus, GHWT adds a "Battle of the Bands" modes, which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to establish global supremacy.

Customize Everything

The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers.

A Set List for the Ages

The Guitar Hero World Tour set list is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest artists of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, and Sublime. There are over 85 tracks, plus frequent downloadable singles and track packs. Summary: Frustrated and Disapointed 2008-11-15
Comment: I am both Frustrated and Disapointed in GH WT. I was excited to receive it and as a vetran of the RB series, I wanted to see how this game played out. I mainly play the drums, so this is basically all I will discuss.

On RB1 and RB2, I'm normally in the 95-100% on the majority of songs on Hard and am in the 85-90 range on half the songs on Expert. I've downloaded all but 15 songs as well so I have a large list. With that said, I was frustrated to see that I was not even able to get any streaks going or finish a song on medium with over 85%. So I re-calibrated, and still wasn't able to streak anything together. So what is the reason, after looking at it more closely, my Symbol's are not registering every hit. I'd say on avg 1 out of every 7-10 hits on the symbol registers with the game.

So I went to the music creator and tried it out there also, and sure enough, the pads dont always register. I've tried different spots, harder and softer with no luck.

So yeah the hardware SUCKS out of the package.

The gameplay, very mediocre at best - as others have said: screen shots are horrible, differentiating between when the drum fill begins and ends BLOWS, how to initiate star power is the worst and amost garauntee's you will get off rythem if you are playing a faster paced song.

The information that is displayed is either too small to see or in a bad place. Online play, haven't had much fun playing that yet. DLC, are they ever going to release somethings?

The only thing that I do like is the few songs that are not available on the RB series. I think Guitar Hero needs to stick to just the guitar part - they did that well and the whole band trick just is not that good.

I will contact customer support to see about this calibration tool that I am hearing about for the drums, and I will give that a shot. If this improves things, I will update the rating and review accordingly, but when shelling out $190 for a game, I'd rather it work right out the box!

Summary: AWESOME!! 2008-11-13
Comment: This is one of the best games on the PS3. The graphics are stellar and the instruments are easy to use. I particularly enjoyed some of the additions like the star power button and the 'create a rock star feature'.The song list is incredible featuring popular songs like 'hotel california' and 'beat it'. I would highly recommend this game for true fans of the game because it not only lived up to but exceeded my expectations.

Summary: Guitar Hero should stick to guitar 2008-11-13
Comment: There are few people I know who were more excited then I when
I saw the Guitar Hero World Tour drum set, I've played the rock band version and I felt that something was missing and I felt (still feel) that World Tour had a more realistic setup to drums and especially after learning that all the instruments would be compatible between the two games quickly went out and purchased the set.

My experience was a bit underwhelming, the drum set, especially at first, was stiff and unresponsive and I quickly found myself failing even the easiest songs. I am used to 90% most songs on expert on Rock Band so I was a bit dismayed at immediately failing eye of the tiger. But once I found that I had to pound on the Hi-Hat as though I was trying to hammer a nail with a pencil, I struggled through at 70% so you could say my experience was a bit frustrating. Although on a positive note the instrument does soften up after a while and becomes something close to playable

In addition the game is very unforgiving as if you are out of rhythm for anymore then maybe 3 or 4 seconds be prepared to fail. I cant tell you how frustrating it was to monotonously work my way through 'on the road again only to go from green to red in the last few seconds and failed.

Also for those of you PS3 owners the drum set is NOT compatible with Rock Band2.

Now onto the positives the song choice is on the whole pretty good with fairly diverse and challenging song choices for pretty much all the instruments. Both the guitar and the Bass are fun to play, and it is quite a bit of fun to play as a band rather then the relatively limited coop that you find in Guitar Hero3. The guitar is a bit of an upgrade and and on the neck the buttons allowing you to finger tap are spaced the same as the normal buttons allowing them to be actually useful.

The graphics are fairly decent and the create a character feature has a decent amount of depth. the sets the band plan at are also fairly interesting.

As for the microphone, I haven't tried singing very much, but I can say it is a bit more difficult then Rock Band.

So in conclusion the guitar is pretty fun, the drums are an exercise in frustration and singing is a bit more difficult, but and if you only stick to the guitar and bass I think you will have a by and large enjoyable experience.

Summary: It's called "Rock Band" 2008-11-12
Comment: An ugly, stupid knock-off of Harmonix's Rock Band. How can mo-capped characters still look so strange and unnatural? And still using the (inherited) "Guitar Hero" brand for a full band game? Silly.

Summary: Great Game, Great Fun 2008-11-10
Comment: So I bought this game last week at a local game store (couldn't find one on here), but after reading the reviews that I saw on here i was hesitant to open it up and start playing. I finally made the decision to open it up and give it a go and i am glad i did! The graphics are rad, and the characters are eff'n awesome (during the "beat it" the lead singer started doing the dance from the music video).

I must have bought the kit with all the instruments that actually work, but even if some things dont work i found a lot of guides on youtube that shows you how to do quick and easy fixes to make your kit work.

All in all, this game is awesome...way better than Rockband (and yes i have played it) But I think that GH will always be ahead of the curve b/c they were the ones who made this genre what it is today.
