Summary: Very fun 2008-11-18
Comment: HS is very entertaining, a lot of action to be had. Story is good, and the developers provide a lot of mindless destruction. You get to feel superhuman with spinning attacks that wreak havoc on groups of enemies. Cannon sequences that have you rack up 500 kills. I get a kick out of that. Its not too gory though, and not overly masochistic like some games are.

Summary: Simple Wow and YES! 2008-11-17
Comment: It's been about 3-4hours since I played..and I can't let the controller go..
Simple amazement and I was kept telling myself, "After this chpater, let's turn off the ps3..." but I couldn't.
Story, Graphics, Easy controls, Innovative fighting scenes, and more.
It's really cheap to get HS now, so get it, and enjoy it!

Summary: I Hated It 2008-11-10
Comment: So... I was looking forward to playing this, but I hated it. Hated. Loathed. I got so frustrated with it that I took it out of my PS3 and threw it on the ground and let it lay there for a few hours. The stupid throwing of the disk to hit the gong thing is so frustrating, I don't care who says it just takes a while to get used to. It's annoying - and I never got used to it. There's no meat to the game, it's just this weak storyline with freakishly sadistic characters -- all of whom I could care less about. Usually, despite any form of annoyance or stupidity, I play the game till the end. But not this time. I think I'm on the last level anyway- I hear there's only 6? Short (but at the same time way too long). Well... I'll watch the ending on youtube. I'm sure it won't blow me away.
On the upside, the graphics are pretty. But, I just started Uncharted: Drake's Fortune which completely blows Heavenly Sword out of the atmosphere, hands down. So... eh... it's a double negative from me.

Summary: Short and sweet! 2008-10-26
Comment: I don't play video games that often but I do own a PS3. Let me tell you this game is just spectacular! It's like being in a movie, and you get to play the lead! The graphics, the storyline, the martial arts moves, the musical score, and the gameplay are just stunning. It's my favorite game of all time. I'm crazy about Nariko now! =)

Summary: Uneven 2008-10-25
Comment: I played the Japanese version of this, but except for the menus, I assume it's identical to the American version, including the excellent English voice acting. That, along with the gorgeous visuals and the very cool special moves, are the good parts of the game. Unfortunately, the game is stuffed chock-full with frustration.
First of all, it's a button-masher--you will find yourself wondering over and over, "Why do I have to press the X button a thousand times when I could have just pressed it once to open that gate?" or "What is the point of having a little Dance Dance Revolution pattern minigame that does nothing but undercut what would otherwise be a terrific dramatic moment?" A game ought to suck you in with the fun, not exhaust you mentally and physically for no good reason, leaving you with a throbbing thumb and forearm, and a simmering sense of frustration.
Speaking of which, the puzzles are, with a few exceptions, just bad. A couple of them are fun, but they are all dumb-as-a-rock simple, and yet often frustrating due to poor button-mashing choices on the part of the game designers. I often wondered why they even bothered with a puzzle at that particular place in the game. All it did was slow things down and annoy the player.
Story-wise, there are some great moments, and some really awful ones where I would just go "Oh, come ON!" I don't mean awful in a good way--I'm all for tragic drama in a game--I mean awful as in making you feel cheated, or awful as in stupid.
Characters are largely interesting, and I positively loved Nariko and Kai at times--Nariko's facial expressions can send a chill right through you when she's angry, and Kai makes you want to cuddle and protect her, even though she's a total psycho. But with every major character, there are moments when they do something that rings false just to advance the script. And there are of course the dumb fan-service moments that seem so common in Japanese games.
So I would recommend this game only if you have a high tolerance for frustration--if so, it's worth enduring for the many good parts.
