Summary: Wasted my money!! 2008-10-28
Comment: I was very disappointed with this game. I am a huge American Idol fan as well as love karaoke. I found this game to be a big let down. The songs are old and don't sound like the originals. The microphone is behind the voice on the track so I had trouble singing along. I so wish I could take this game back to the store and get my money!

Summary: American Idol Karaoke Revolution games fun for all ages 2008-09-28
Comment: The karaoke Revolution: American Idol: Video Games are "fun for all ages." Since all you have to do is sing plenty of individuals are able to participate who never play any traditional video games. The only major negative for the Playstation II game is that unlike versions for more recent consoles, you cannot download new songs. Eventually you do tire of 40 songs.

Summary: Yep I Can Sing.... 2008-09-13
Comment: Unless you live under a rock you know a little bit about "American Idol". Its exactly like the show. You make an avatar and sing your heart out and yes....you are judged. Good selection of songs and levels to compete at. Fun for all ages!

Summary: Okay, but not as much fun as Singstar 2008-08-06
Comment: I have all of the Singstar games for the ps2, and I thought it would be fun to try a different kind of singing game. I was not all that impressed, and I honestly have only played this game one time.
I guess it would be a good choice for someone who wants more of a video game. It was fun to pick my character and outfit. I don't want to sit there and listen to the judges. I just want to pick a song, sing it, pick another song, etc... I prefer Singstar's set up to this game, and Singstar is great for parties, which I do not think is true for Karaoke Revolution.

Summary: not bad 2008-07-29
Comment: It's good if you like the American Idol set up, but I personally liked Volume 3 better, I think it had a more recent song selection with fun beats whereas this game has a lot of old and melodic songs. When I play with friends we end up not playing this one long and switching to the other song in the other volumes because they lend themselves well to party/group play.
It's not bad, over all, the judges commentary is awesome, but depending on the level you're playing at the same performance will get a great job or a you can't sing, quit now reaction. Simon is funny to watch. Laura is annoying, the characters can be dressed up and that's kinda neat. The true duet songs (as opposed to the songs you do in duet mode that both players sing all the lines) are great and I really like the knockout rounds, where you compete head to head with another singer and one of you loses based on performance.
It's a party game, really and not meant to be taken too seriously I think, since I'm an average singer and beat the game on all modes (except expert, where I'm stuck in the finals and can't win the competition) in the same day. But it's lots of fun and you'll crack up and dance and basically be entertained with a group of people. It's a nice ice breaker, but all the karaoke revolution games are mostly the same idea, with different songs. I suggest you wikipedia the song lists to figure out which one is right for you.
