Summary: For Batman fans and their spouses (or kids) 2008-11-02
Comment: So I'm a gigantic Batman nerd, and I've enjoyed the Lego games quite a bit so far. The two Lego Star Wars games (and by extension the complete saga) were a fantastic mix of puzzling, platforming, and action. They even managed to throw in Legos and Star Wars, I don't know how you could not enjoy those games. Lego Indy was alright as well, but something about it just didn't sit right with me, but after seeing the original trailer for Lego Batman I knew I was going to love it, and Traveler's Tales seems to love proving me right.

First off, the gameplay. If you're looking for some new and groundbreaking game mechanics then...why are you even looking at this game? It's the same basic control scheme as the others. Punch, jump, build, and switch characters are basically the only controls. You can however throw batterangs by holding down the punch button (a very cool addition). And you can acquire all sorts of new abilities by switching suits. There's a glide suit, bomb suit, heat suit. Just about anything the old 60's batman comics had, you'll find it here folks. Playing as the villains is also fun, as each one seems to have some sort of unique ability that will probably have you laughing so hard you'll fall off the couch. Yes the camera can get off sometimes, and lead to some needless deaths, but it's not as if you get some sort of major penalty for dying in this game.

And the controls are so accessible, if you're looking for some way to get your non-gaming significant other into gaming, the lego series is the best way to do it, bar none. Generally I'm pretty alone in my love for my consoles, but I pop in Lego Batman (or Star Wars) and all of a sudden my fiance, brother, nephews, neices, parents are all fighting for the controllers. It's the weirdest feeling to be kicked off your controller by people who said you wasted your money on a console, but it's a gratifying one nonetheless.

And for the nerds, let's see here. It's an original Batman "story." Ok, it's not really a story per say, but it's not based on any specific movie or comic storyline. And it while it doesn't fit into any sort of timeline, the number of characters in it will blow your mind. Barbara Gordon Batgirl? Check. Nightwing? Check. Alfred? Checkidy Check! And for those of us who grew up watching the old Tim Burton movies, the original score from the first movie is used as the soundtrack. Awesome little details really make this game.

So if you love old school platforming, get it. If you like Batman, get it. If you've enjoyed the previous lego games, get it. If none of the above applies to you...well...I dunno what to tell ya. But for everyone else, you will not be dissapointed. Well worth it!

Summary: Really Fun Game 2008-11-02
Comment: This is a really fun game. My kids and I love playing it together. The two player game is great to play with each other. Could have used a little bit more replayability to get 5 stars. After you run through the game once, it loses some of the fun.

Summary: I am mad! 2008-10-31
Comment: I have only gotten 1.2% through this game. I had to restart my PS3 three times because the game froze. There doesn't seem to be any obvious reason for the game to freeze. It is not a graphic intensive game at all. I have noticed more bugs in the game besides the unpredictable freezes. One minute I would get trapped behind walls or fences for no reason, and another minute a supernatural force would teleport me through thick brick walls or closed metal doors after minutes of struggling to get to the other side. It is creepy. My game is brand new and in perfect condition. One other thing is when I first downloaded the Lego Batman demo from PSN, I couldn't play it through. The demo made my PS3 freeze 6 times till I finally gave up. I thought the real game would be fine. I guess I was wrong. I have played other Lego titles, and this is the first time it freezes so frequently. I am so mad that I will only play the DS version of this game from now on! Maybe rent it before you make a purchase of this game!

Summary: Just OK 2008-10-10
Comment: Just wanted to say that I fell a little let down with this entry of the Lego games. I just could not get into the game at all. Maybe it was because I loved the Indiana Jones game so much. .

This one would have to fall at # 3 of the 4 games for me. With Indiana Jones leading the way, followed by Star Wars(the entire series)

Summary: Here we go again... 2008-10-04
Comment: You'd figure that with two Lego Star Wars games and Lego Indiana Jones already under their belts, Travelers Tales' Lego games would be getting kind of stale. Well, you'd figure wrong. Lego Batman features everything that was enjoyable with the aforementioned games, and slaps the Batman license on it to boot. Playing as the Caped Crusader and his sidekick Robin, you traverse a Lego-fied Gotham City and take on the usual rogues gallery of baddies. Fans of the Batman comics will be happy to see plenty of familiar faces: Joker, Nightwing, Batgirl, Hush, Bane, and plenty more are all here for your amusement. If you've played any of the previous Lego-based games, you should already know what to expect here, as Lego Batman offers up plenty of funny and comical moments supplemented with tons of unlockables and bonus characters to boot. The game looks good and even offers Danny Elfman's classic Batman theme, rounding out the presentation. The only downsides to Lego Batman are the same flaws that were apparent in previous Lego games: the difficulty is simple to say the least, and the game isn't that long at all. Still, with the hordes of unlockables to find, you'll keep playing, although it would have been nice to have some online co-op features by now. All in all, Lego Batman is a fun and family friendly diversion that anyone can enjoy and easily pick up and play.
