Customer Review: 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful: Customer Rating:  Summary: So Disappointing. 2008-11-17 Comment: Waited for this game for quite a while, being an older gamer and a socom fan forever...my PS3 continues to let me down...well lets be "PC" and say its Slant 6's fault...but no matter...its still on my PS3 (PS2 used to bring me so much fun)...anyway, the server and bug problems which are highly talked about, are a deal-breaker with this game...here's the point, i can hardly play it!..i can hardly connect to the servers, its so glitchy and laggy (no its not my i-net, i have uverse 10-mbit and a sophisticated network i admin myself, have for years, i never have any issues with live, other psn titles, cept now LBP, or pc games...) the gameplay is fine, its socom, if you ever get to play it...ugh...such a let down. On the upside, the bluetooth headset that came bundled with it, is probably the best bluetooth i've ever used...its very clear, i can hear people and everyone can hear me, always works, paired esily, and the HQ mode really makes this little bundle worth it, best part of this purchase...works well for other PSN titles (Resistance 2 anybody?) 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Customer Rating:  Summary: Get ready to ruin your social life 2008-11-16 Comment: This is a sweet game. It's got a lot of bugs still, but overall, it's better than COD4 in the fact that not all of it is "run and gun," (not sure how COD5 is yet). However, just like other versions of socom, you're going to get the glitchers that will ruin some of your games, but most of the time you're finding rooms with real players. On the con side, it's hard to connect some of the time, you'll get a little bit of lag some of the time, and every now and then, i'll hear someone that's lost their sound on the other end of the mic (hasn't happened to me yet). But all of these are really minor considering they might happen once out of twenty times. Oh, and the initial download is just uncalled for, so when you get it, plug it in, hit the download button, and go somewhere for a couple of hours, because that's how long it will take to load into your ps3. On the pro side, the bluetooth is pretty flawless, and it's a good package deal (I think I caught it for $55 on a pre-order for both the game and mic), and it's flat out addicting. Overall, this game is pretty fun, and if you're not a freak about how perfect a game should be when it first comes out, you'll really like this one. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful: Customer Rating: Summary: Really good game, i hope they fix server problems and the headset is the best thing that could happen to this game or the PS3 2008-11-16 Comment: First the game: As you should know already, it is online only, you can deeply customize your character, all clothes, clothes' color, weapons, weapons accesories, grenades and stuff, really wide in that area. The user interface is not friendly at all, and takes too long before you find a good game, then you realize that you have to wait more while it loads the map until playing, but once you roll into the action you are ready to go! Its really fun, the graphics are OK but for a PS3 game they could have made them better. There's no ranking system perse. You need to be in a clan to level up but if you leave that clan you'll loose your level, which seems kind of stupid if you ask me but i don't play for ranking, just for fun. Controls are really bad designed, gameplay is fast and you can kill/get killed really fast if you just wander around alone in an open space *HEADSHOT*^. That's were the headset comes in, talking with other people in your team is awesome, and everyone who buys this game has a headset, so you can talk with 16 people in your team, create strategies, go in together and win. Like the quote of the game''ALONE I'M LETHAL, AS A TEAM I DOMINATE'' so yeah, its really a team game. Now the Headset: Awesome, highquality, battery lasts like 8 hours or something, you can mute it, if you updated your PS3 its like a controller (you can see battery level and stuff) functions perfectly with all my games, not a single problem, there's some functions about it that you should check online but its great stuff! If you don't want this game you HAVE to get this headset. HEADSET WITH THE GAME: Its worth mentioning, when you play in HQ mode with your official sony bluetooth headset in SOCOM there's many voice chat effects, voices sound differet wether you are in a building or outside, or talking far away from you team. Awesome graphics, insanely fun gameplay and cohesive communication make it the next gen online shooter you want to own. Like all multiplayer games before it it has a few bugs at launch, which are being worked out, like other multiplayer games. A lot of people who play COD dont care to much for CONFRONTATION. But you gotta have skills to be good at it, its not a snoozefest and it doesnt do half the work for you. Get this game, find a good clan, learn some skills and dominate the enemy.
