Summary: For my daughter 2008-08-30
Comment: My 3 year old daughter loves Dora and this was a great collection of videos all in one set. We went on a roadtrip that last a few days and was worried how she would do in the car for so long, but this Dora collection saved us and provided her with endless fun!

Summary: Good, original show. 2008-08-15
Comment: I am the mother of 2 girls, one is three and the other is 1 year old. I heven't seen this dvd collection, so i'm just going to review the show because I have seen that. I personally think this show is kind of corny BUT my daughter has actually learned stuff from it, which is more than can be said about most shows today. I like the fact that it is an original idea and not some type of remake, and unlike most, it is not all about the merchandize but it is actually a pretty good learning system if you are living in a billingual home as it is ours. However beware that not all the characters have good pronunciation. It does not happen all the time but it does happen and if you don't have a spanish backgrownd, you may not be able to help your child to correct her/his errors. That is why I mostly advise this show to be watched by kids from a billingual backgrown. If you speak only english in your home, your child might pick up a decent amount of spanish words but once he stops watching the show altogether he will most likely forget, I live in the states and were I live we don't get a lot of latin stations that I would care to watch so in exchange I would buy the same kids shows in spanish version and buy dvd movies that are dubbed in spanish so she can actually listen to a decent amount of spanish. And unless your kid is really hooked on Dora I would not advised to buy the dvds, but that's up to you. My child is getting all there is to get from it by watching it on TV. If you are like me, and want your child to get the most out of what she is watching on tv, then my recomendations are "Sesame street" "Elmo's world"(some people find elmo annoying and so do I but it is a good show regardless) and "Blues clues" which are highly educacional(my daughter was already counting when she was 2 and she can also spell her alphabet), don't go for what the media promotes, try to watch what your kid watches and find where she is getting the most from. Another good show is "The backyardigands" Where the kids do different quests, and adventures are different with each episode and they sing a bunch of catchy songs. Also, there are other shows which I think are completely garbage like "little Einsteins" "Wonderpets" 'Brats' and "Brats babies". Bottom line, you are going to find what is best for your children by watching them. I hope my review has been helpful.

Summary: Simply Dora! 2008-05-22
Comment: I bought it because my daughter was going for vacations with her grandparents in Costa Rica, and she loves Dora. I watched it with her before traveling and she loved it, as every time she watches the show. I am now happy that she will get entertained during the rainy afternoons.

Summary: A hit with the Dora fan 2007-11-09
Comment: CD is played over and over and over and over.....by the little Dora fan. I am impressed by the way the 2 year old interacts with the Dora show, responding to questions. Entertaining early learning tool. Shipped promptly.

Summary: Aye aye aye es muy malo! 2007-08-05
Comment: Hey everyone, Patriarch here. Now my sister and her husband-in-law went away for some second honeymood kind of thing and you know what that means? Babysitting time for yours truly. As soon as they left the kids started hopping all over the place and they built this makeshift sliding board in the kitchen. The boy slip down and bumped his head and just laid there in this crooked position. I just didn't' know what to do with them and their misbehaving.
I got the idea that I needed something to keep their little minds occupied. What I found was this: The Dora the Explorer ultimate adventure collection. First of all, anything with the word ULTIMATE in it automatically catches my eye. The fact that there would be adventures made it all the more better. So as fast as I could, before another one of them could be injured I popped it in.
The good news is that those kids' faces were glue to the screen almost immediately. The bad news was I still had to sit there with them and watch it. Now the plot lines of these cartoons were very weak. There was very little character development and most of them had to do with finding her backpack or the monkey finding his boots. I also noticed that the monkey talks and sings, so this show is like more evolution propaganda hocus pocus.
Also, this was a Spanish show which I hadn't realized. It's about this Spanish girl names Dora, and...I guess the monkey is Spanish too. The only problem with that is, like that Coqueta movie I reviewed, there are no English subtitles. Luckily there are some English words used to so I could at least tell what was going on. Not that it mattered, because as I said the plots were horrible anyway.
Now I could give this show five stars because it did keep the kids busy. But I just don't think it would be fair to potential viewers who could possibly purchase it based on my rating and be disappointed. So I had to do a fair and balanced review. No plot, no character development, no English subtitles, and...oh yeah the jokes were not funny. I didn't get into that yet. The jokes all fell really flat. The only reason I knew they were jokes was because the kids would laugh at them. Maybe the kids just knew Spanish better than I. I don't know.
So, long story short, the kids well to sleep after this was over adn the first night of this babysitting has gone well. Their parent's will be back in a couple days so I might show them some spongebob in the meantime. I'll let you know how that goes. Ok see ya.
